Hello!

Most of you all know (if you read my story obviously lol)

I am 24, a wife & mum of 3.

I am in the high risk category for breast cancer due to my very strong family history. I have been in the high risk clinic since 2011 and have been planning my preventive mastectomy for nearly 2 years.

Finally after seeing my breast surgeon & plastic surgeon twice, on the 20th Dec I signed the surgery consent form and surgery should be in March.

I feel very empowered about positive about this decision as I have since I heard about this as an option.

Naturally Im getting nervous of the unknown and also this being an emotional time isnt helping either.

My dad was realised from hospital after a nasty fall on the 21st, the hospital said there was nothing more they can do for him as he has stage 4 liver cancer, so they sent him home to pass away. He made it through Xmas and new yr and is still with us today but waiting is very hard along with preparing for my surgery.

My surgery will probably be in March, it will be a 12 hr surgery with a 10 day hospital stay after

then a long recovery at home, up to 6 months- 1 yr depending on how i recovery and if there are any complications.

Yesterday my hubby bought me a lift chair for my recovery, it was so sweet but hit me that its not too far away now.

Even though I feel empowered and cant wait to kick cancer’s butt for what its done to so many members of my family, including my dad right now and my mum in 2010, Im nervous :)

  • Wow thank you.
You have no idea how amazing it feels when you get positive encouragement from a stranger
Ive had many negative comments from ignorant people and I understand they dont have the knowledge that I do so I try not to take it personal but sometimes it is very hard.

    Thank you once again!

  • I feel your pain and nervousness. My best friend died of breast cancer a few years ago before she had time to have children. She was an amazing person, beautiful inside and out. We would go down the beach for long walks and talks after her breast removal surgery and she would walk topless because her doctors said sunlight was the best medicine for healing. So many people would come up and congratulate her for her bravery and it opened new thinking doors to everyone we met along the way with positivity on how this affects everyone. Her name was Peta and she was 32. You are doing the right thing for your kids Mrs Green and your an inspiration to all women.
