Whilst I was enjoying a break and refreshment in the food court after many errands I noticed a mum and dad eating their lunch and feeding their son. After they finished the mum picked up the tray and placed it on the table next to their’s then continued to talk to her hubby. I thought that maybe she had just moved the tray out of the way of bub. But to my shock not long after the mum and dad got up with bub and left. But the thing that made me see red was that they left their tray on the table, rubbish, mess and all.. and to add insult to injury they were sitting right behind the tray return/rubbish bin. The bin was as close as a chair away from them but they took the lazy/dirty option to leave their mess for the poor cleaner to pick up. As I was finished my meal, I picked my rubbish up and put it in the bin, then with a angry grunt picked their’s up and binned it as well. As I was walking away my mind was wondering what their home was like, I guarantee by the look of them, neat and tidy and I was angry and bewildered to know why they thought it was OK to rubbish a public area. Seriously the bins are not just for show and we were not dining in a restaurant. After this incident it was time for my grocery shopping and half way around the supermarket I came across a used coffee cup that someone had disposed of on the grocery shelf. OMG it’s not rocket science, just keep the darn thing with you and dispose of it in the right way instead of taking the lazy way out and having some one else have to bin it for you. With people like this I wonder what their children will end up like .

  • I agree you put your rubbish in the bin,it is common sense!

  • That is because a lot of people think cleaners are their to do their job and it might even be a habit subconsciously . Good you are doing the right thing. So many times we end up cleaning the table before sitting down because the cleaners either don’t see or are very busy cleaning other tables . So if it isn’t too messy we just do it . If it is extremely filthy its better to let them clean as you may end up dirtying yourself .

  • Unfortunately there are some really inconsiderate people on this world that think because people are cleaners or workers at a supermarket etc, then they can treat them like their servants because they have paid for something. It’s a terrible attitude to have, when I get out and about I also see way too much of it for my liking

  • I hear you – I am gobsmacked by people that do not check the toilet before they leave the stall, both at work and public loos.. Honestly, it doesn’t take much to be considerate. I end up bloody cleaning the loo so people don’t think it was me!!!

  • I think the same thing in public toilets. Sometimes you go in a cubicle and the toilet hasn’t been flushed. I’ve had poo on the seat. Blood on the seat. Vomit on the floor. The loo paper has been unrolled onto the floor. I wonder about their homes and cleanliness too. People need to remember others will be using these toilets

  • lol I get the same feelings of rage, i recently saw a video on facebook of a person on a motorbike who has a helmet camera, he was sitting at Mcdonalds and a person dropped rubbish out of his window so the bike guy rode up and asked the driver to wind down the passenger window, he threw the rubbish in at the driver and yelled ‘you forgot this’ and rode off. what a fabulous lesson. some people are rude and i was brought up by a Dad who would say stuff like “without people like me the cleaners wouldnt have a job” and a mum who dragged me by the ear to pick up a measly sweet wrapper, well my mum won and i hate chucking anything and my girls are being brought up the same.

    • Hooray, there are more of us out there. It’s not hard to be clean and it makes life more pleasant for everyone

  • My kids work in fast food restaurants and come across this all the time. Believe me they work really hard for the little pay they get and cleaning up after lazy people really isn’t fair for them.

  • I agree, it’s just plain rude, and I feel for the cleaners. :/

  • This is something my husband and I unfortunately frequently come across on most shopping outings, we discuss it often and wonder how these people would like it if anyone who visited the homes took the same attitude. It’s such a discourteous way to treat a public environment… but what really get’s my goat is the amount of rubbish we are coming on during family outings to beaches and national parks- seriously how hard is it to hold on to used products till you get to a bin!!

  • It doesn’t take too much effort to dispose of your rubbish at a food court, still, grubby people like that keep the cleaners in employment.

  • This is also a pet hate of mine and it does not take much to collect all of your rubbish and do the right thing and leave the table clean for the next person whom may want to use it. I also say if you would not do it in your house don’t do it any where else and show some respect or morals

  • This drives me crazy too! I feel sorry for the cleaners. I see this behaviour as demeaning & disrespectable to them. I always put my tray & rubbish away & I wipe down the table after my kids have eaten as they always spill something

  • i worked in food and beverage as a teenager and some of the mess people leave behind is DISGUSTING!! its definately not hard to find a bin!!
