The holidays are a good opportunity for kids of all ages to have a break from school. It is also a good time for kids to learn in other ways. We like to keep a holiday journal with activities and stories and photos. It makes a great keepsake and also the kids learn along the way.

  • Great idea, my so just finished prep and it’s our first 6week holiday and I didn’t want him to get lazy, so this is great way to keep learning.

  • the journal is a great idea. maybe also getting a scrapbook . you can put pics in it, dried flowers, beads, anything that helps to capture the memories that they made over the school holidays! they could make mini-projects in it as well.

  • its great to keep them busy with little things like that…. One of my kids also needs speach theropy over he holidays so the extra learning with that hellps him heaps as he is more into it when there is no school going on.

  • I did this as a kid (when I was 8) on a family holiday in New Zealand and still have it. So funny reading through now and seeing “a treat of cream buns for morning tea”….some things never change hahah

  • Having older children it seems that holidays are the time to learn lots of life skills – cooking, being responsible around the house and just spending time together

  • We like to cook together during the holidays, walk at the beach with the dog, watch movies, play games, catch up with friends. But we never had a holiday book. And I love the idea!! :-)
