I honestly can’t believe the amount of people that still leave their kids in cars while they go into the shops. I was at the supermarket the other day when I saw a kid in the car, it wasn’t hot but it was pouring down with rain. The kid would’ve been approx 6 or 7. I stood at the doorway of the supermarket for 15 mins to see the mother come out with a trolley load of shopping. So if I was there for 15 minutes imagine how long she was shopping for. If you are going shopping & don’t want to take your child in with you please leave them with a relative or friend because no matter the age it is still wrong & things can still happen.

  • I don’t understand it either. Dogs left in cars, particularly on hot days, is inexplicable too. No excuse for such ignorant negligence

  • It is illegal to leave children unattended in a car so why do people do it?? I call the police now when I see it

  • There is no reason for leaving a child in a car and I don’t care if the Mother was just popping into the local shop and could see her car. It takes seconds to knock a handbrake of and the car than roll and hit another car or another person or alike. If you don’t want to take the child in shopping then leave them with a responsible adult. I would not car if they were screaming and kicking they still would not be left in the car. A car that is shut up in the rain is still going to get humid inside it does not just have to be a sunny day. I would have taken a pic on my mobile and the rego number and contacted the police and center management. Not only is it wrong from my point of view but it against the law that you can not leave a child any where of that age unsupervised and certainly not a car. I feel very strongly about this and as far as I am concerned there is no reason good enough and they should have the child taken from their care if they thought it was fine to do this as they must have to have done it. It’s called neglect and that is exactly what it is.

  • Im with you on this one to there is no reason what so ever to leave a child in the car on their own for any reason !!!!
So what if they are throwing a tantrum what would you rather they walk around the shop moaning or the possibility that a pedo sees them in the car and takes them out.

  • I’m not condoning this, but that child could have chucked the biggest wobbly, mum could have limited time.. There are so many many different scenarios.. I don’t like to judge , as you just never know the situation.

  • I could never do that as I’d just be worried the whole time!

  • I totally agree, my kids were in year 8 high school, before I ever left them in the car. Its just ridiculous to leave such young children in a car, they don’t have the knowledge to deal with a situation they may happen.

  • It Makes me angry to see this still happening, I take my babie out his car seat everytime I just have to run in and pay for petrol and I get some glares from other drivers but I do not care I would never leave my child or children in the car ever.

  • Absolutely things can happen. A trolley load my goodness! What about strangers? What about the handbrake in the car being let off etc. Anything can happen.
