Hello!

I live In Australia, every single member of my Family live in England except my two young girls that are one and three.
Today my sister had her second baby boy, Delivered by Forceps, he got stuck as did her first who was also delivered by forceps as he got stuck.
Today my sisters little boy has had seizures and fits and stopped breathing numerous times, Today my heart has broken. I cannot even see this baby and I love him already, I want to cuddle him and give him all my strength to use as his own strength. I want to hold my sister and tell her that there is no way on earth that the lord above would take such a precious bundle away, that she didn’t just carry a baby for 9 months just to have him cruelly taken away from her after such a short time. Its not fair and its not OK! its not acceptable.
why do these hospitals still insist on using Forceps, I have read horrible tales of how forceps have killed and permanently damaged people, I have read that babies have died when their parents have begged for C-sections and doctors have refused, because its cheaper for the NHS to push through. why if my sister had such a hard time only 16 months ago did the doctors and midwifes not realise that she just cannot deliver naturally, that she is not big enough to do it, why did they not plan a c-section instead of making risky decisions. if their is even the slightest chance a baby could die from these Forceps then they should be thrown out and never used.

  • Totally agree. Although it’s not possible for me to have more children, if I did by some miracle, I would insist on a c-section next time, and make them read my history.

  • Yes I agree, I can only assume forceps have saved more babies than lost, you would very much hope so!

  • I am sorry for your pain and forceps should only be used as a last resort and after all other options have been explored and exhausted. I hope they are getting some support during this very difficult time.

  • What a terrible story. I’m sorry. I hope that your nephew will feel better soon and that your sister will be able to enjoy this little miracle.
About the forceps, I don’t know. I was born with forceps 48 years ago. My daughter was born with forceps 12 years ago. We didn’t suffer anything. Maybe we were just lucky. My daughter had her cheeks red for a couple of days but that’s it. What I want to say is that maybe it wasn’t because of the forceps that your nephew is suffering so much. And so young, little one. But surely, after the problems with the first child, I agree with you that they should have planned a C-section the second time. I never had a second child, but after the first birth my doctor had already told me that, with a second pregnancy, he would have advised me to get a C-section at around 38 weeks.
I send a lot of positive thoughts to your little one, and I hope you will soon get good news.
