  • I find women like you to be so inspirational. Your bravery and courage to keep going, for the love of your child, is amazing! I count my blessings regularly to have had healthy children with just the normal hiccups in daily life

  • Does your son have Aspergers or Autism? Some of them are non-verbal. TYhe get very frustrated because they are unable to tell you anything. How old is your son? Maybe you should speak to your GP and see if can refer you to an expert who can assess your son. Is there any chance he may also be hearing impaired, know you are talking by the movement of your mouth but be unable to understand you?? Does he have any other notable issues that you know about. They may need to sedate him to do some of the tests if he gets violent. I don’t know exactly how they do it. I hope somebody can give you some helpful advice. Maybe you should speak to your Dr. anyway. If you get sick (I hope you never do) but eventually stress takes its toll, who is going to care for your son. Maybe you should have a few hours occasionally that somebody professionally trained and experienced in cases like your son care for him. Occupational therapy of some type may help him, speech therapy. If Parenthood (a TV series ever comes on TV again I suggest you watch it) It starts with a non-verbal son who at about 3 or 4 years had the same issues as you are describing. How do you cope if you have to take him shopping with you, or does somebody mind him for you??

  • your INSPIRATION – I am a mum to a 9.5 special needs daughter ASD/ADHD she is verbal. but in meltdowns she becomes non verbal, bites, kicks, screams and trashes my home. But I will ALWAYS STAND BY HER AND FOR HER! its not easy… let the tears flow… it helps! I am always happy to talk if you wish. sam minshull (FB)

  • I completely understand. I also have an almost four year old nonverbal son. He is my world but it can be very difficult. The frustration felt by him and myself when he can’t communicate his wants and needs can be heartbreaking. But know that he loves you, needs you and you are doing a wonderful job. Hugs

  • Even though your child can’t verbally communicate, I’m sure the love you show your child is reassuring. You are a loving parent & your child is lucky to be safe in your care.

  • I know. Sometimes it’s so very hard. I hope at least your child is able to express love for you in a non-verbal way.

  • My husband is a disability support worker in a high behavior house, I’ve seen the stress it can bring. Good on you for taking care of your child regardless of the stress and upset it can cause! You should be very proud of yourself, I love that you keep your love pushing you forward.
