Hello!

i am a daughter , mother and wife. i was a daughter till the age of 21 , grew up in loving family with two other siblings . i grew up in different places in the world and loved all of them , still miss them.

i got married in 2009 and came to australia with my husband , things changed i was now responsible of setting up a new nest for us , making another loving household like the one i had left behind.

i was hard at first but i managed. i have a daughter now 1 , am a mother and have a loving household .

But i miss my dad ,mum and siblings.this place is awesome but i dont feel like its my home , i miss my parents and my life back there.

i have no real friends here , no one i can share my heart with , i have tried talking to neighbours and people on the street , but no real response.

i love australia but i have a feeling that people dont trust each other anymore and dont want to mingle with others.

i am really lonely here.its hard to migrate and feel like home once again. lets start to talk to our neighbours and call them over to our homes for tea , i think lets get less busy and stop and see the world around us.

lets help reduce the loneliness .

  • Keep trying. With the world the way it is today, people are wary of strangers. Once they realise you are a neighbour and no longer a stranger, once they get used to seeing you around, I’m sure their attitude will change. Aussies are a friendly bunch

  • It can be hard making new friends.

  • Have you looked into joining some groups and clubs, always a great way to meet people that do want to socialise.

  • That must be tough. Check out meetup.com to try and find a mothers group near you or something else that interests you. Good luck!

  • I can understand. My family migrated to Australia 22 years ago when I was still a small child. Despite growing up in Australia, most of my family is still in Poland (only my parents and my brother live here), and I miss my family dreadfully. I am now married and have a beautiful 11 month old, but really still miss my family. We visit as often as possible, but it is hard.

  • i migrated too and it was really tough at first especially finding friends i love Australia, love the climate, love the beauty, love the life style but people don’t really want to include me into their circle no matter how had i try. so now i stopped trying making people to like me, i just live my life, enjoy my family and the only true friend i have who is from the same country i am from

  • I really feel for you, it must be hard, especially missing your family. Your daughter will help you make friends. See if you can join a local playgroup or mother’s group. You will meet other mothers with young babies and hopfully make new friends. Good luck and keep being friendly and asking neihbours over for tea. It takes time, but it sounds like you’re a lovely person and sooner or later I’m sure Australia will stat to feel like home. I wish you all the best.
