Our arrival at the Mindil Beach Sunset Markets coincided with the sun setting. Watching the Darwin sun turn into a fiery red orb as it disappeared below the horizon was the perfect happy hour experience – one we shared with dear friends and a deliciously refreshing glass of champagne!

Mindil Beach Sunset Markets are a sensory Nirvana. Watching the sun turn into a fiery red orb as it disappears below the horizon is a highlight; one we watched with most market attendees. Mouth-watering smells of food, wonderful hubbub of people enjoying themselves, buskers twirling fire sticks, and uplifting sounds of the didgeridoo performance give the Market a great vibe. Gosh what a magic night! The Markets are free entry, smoke-free and plastic bags are banned. What a wonderful adventure!

  • I have heard so much about these markets – I’d love to get there one day. I’ve never been to Darwin – only as far as Alice Springs in the NT – so have it on my bucket list!

  • Ummm yeah I absolutely love the Mindil beach markets too however it can’t have been any time recently that you’ve been as they only operate in the Dry Season. We are currently in the Wet Season here in Darwin so they aren’t operating and won’t be for several more months… Definitely worth a look but they haven’t been operating since the end of October last year.

    • Thanks for the information on the markets!

  • Sounds just wonderful – I wish I could visit the markets!

    • The Mindil Beach markets operate during the Dry season in Darwin. Definitely worth a visit though if you are in Darwin between April and Oct. They aren’t open at all at this time of year.
