Hello!

I will keep this brief as I have my own personal blog where you can read more about my family and our personal journey with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. My husband Dan is currently recovering from a stem cell transplant to eradicate his cancer. This is the second line of treatment for Dan so far. Last year he had 6 months of chemo but unfortunately did not go into remission.

Cancer affects every part of your life, physically, emotionally and unfortunately, financially.

We have been fortunate that we have had wonderful support from friends and family to help us get through this difficult time.

We hope to get the news we’ve been waiting for in about a month’s time.

This is not the first time I have battled cancer with a loved one.

I lost my mum when I was 18, she was 39. I lost my sister when I was 38, she was 33. Now I am in this fight again with my darling husband, Dan. This time we have to win because we have an almost 7 year old daughter who adores her Dad.

I can’t believe how much of my life cancer has affected but I’ve never let it rule my life. There have been times when I just felt like I can’t do this anymore but it’s not about me.

We will get there…I just know we will.

If you’d like to read more about our family please follow my link to my blog.

Thanks

  • Recently I found out from my Doctors that some cancers are hereditary, not necessarily from parents to child. In our case it was my Great Grandma, my Grandma, my 2 second cousins, my Uncle (his was preceded by a long medical problem which affected his liver problem about 30 years before he developed cancer, now my brother. Fortunately my Mum missed out.
