Any other mums out there feeling judged? Because you are suffering from a disease that can’t be seen? I suffer from arthritis. It is a daily struggle for me, some days easier then others, but all a challenge. When I try and explain why I can’t do certain things to some people, they look like they don’t believe it and some even call he out for talking BS. It’s so frustrating!

  • I also have arthritis as well as Fibromyalgia but if I keep my sugar intake low I do find it helps the fibro a lot but try and explain Fibro to folk its a real nightmare.

  • To me it happened with depression. A lot of people don’t show much empathy, just because there are no clear physical signs.

    • Sadly some people do not show empathy for depression and it is very real and everyone needs support and care regardless of the visibility of illness.

      • Actually a lot of physical problems are easier to manage than mental problems. But yes, you can see a broken leg, to make an example, but you can’t see a messy brain! :-(

  • Arthritis itself makes life hard enough, I really don’t need others sitting in judgement on me, telling me to get over it, deal with it, don’t let it stop you doing things….it’s only arthritis, it won’t kill you. I try and not let it control my life, I don’t enjoy not being able to do things, but sometimes it can’t be avoided

  • I’m sorry that people judge you for this

  • Really feel for you – never ceases to amaze me how insensitive some people are.

  • Sadly, this occurs too often with illnesses and diseases that are not visible to the eye. There definitely needs to be more knowledge, tolerance and understanding of illnesses and diseases and stigma taken away from some illnesses and diseases too.

  • OMGosh I so know the feeling!! Haha to put it bluntly sometimes, I say that my body is riddled with arthritis and I suffer from fatigue – the response that I get is that I look (or even sound) too young to have arthritis… I get strange looks when I look like I struggle with the pram or trolley and the kids or have to sit down and take a break ect… ahhh people just don’t get it…
