Hello!

So I’m a sugar addict and constant grazer when I’m in the kitchen. This year, I decided that instead of quitting sugar, going paleo, doing the 5:2 or busting a gut at the gym – I was going to switch to a more healthier lifestyle with food. And it’s working. This is week 2 and I’ve lost a few kilos already and I feel virtuous and motivated. I like that I’m not restricting myself with forbidden foods which makes me less likely to want to binge on them. I like that I’m swapping sandwiches for salads and veggies for lunch. And I really like that my kids have noticed the change too and like to try a bit of my meals. Here’s hoping that I can keep this motivated for the future as I really want this lifestyle change to stick. Has anyone done something similar and have advice for me on this?

  • That’s so good on you. Changes in our lifestyle, are changes that stay forever. Differently than diets. Drink a lot of water too, and reward yourself when you achieve your goal. :-)

  • Don’t buy junk food – if it’s not in the house, you can’t eat it.

  • My husband and I have done similar. I don’t keep junk food in the house any more, it is just a special treat and I don’t have biscuits with my coffee. We don’t overeat favour green veggies over others such as potatoes etc. We’ve both noticed a difference in the way we feel and because it hasn’t been extreme changes its easy to stick to.

    • Extreme changes just make people feel deprived and then crave certain foods.

  • So glad it’s working for you. Strict diet plans almost always end in failure. It sounds like 2016 will be a fantastic year for you. Well done!

    • yes i agree. have your freedom somewhat and you will be happier to eat this way. it really is a lifestyle change.

  • Eating healthy foods and getting exercise is good and it is a lifestyle change that can be maintained. It is the only way I know as diets/restrictions do not work. Good luck on your lifestyle journey!

  • I had white bread most of my life until one day a friend of mine said start eating brown bread when I had my son and she told me how it was better for you blah blah , and her kids wont touch white bread since they got used to it . I have been buying brown bread for the family and they really enjoy it and you do feel and taste the difference . The only downside is that the softness of white bread does last a bit longer so I make sure put them in the bread tin or in the fridge after a couple of days so it doesn’t mould .
