Hello!

After reading a story about someone else’s surprise birthday lower- thought would post what happened on my birthday in April… Was all excited on the monday morning, thinking that hubby would have left me a nice card or something on the bench, no go, he would probably stop past at lunch time with flowers- wouldn’t he? so still happy i continued to get the eldest ready for school. Reminding her that it was mummy’s birthday, I got a lovely cuddle and kiss which made my day brighter! When returning home (I work from home) I received a card from a child I look after and her mum made me cupcakes, I will never get over how sweet this was from someone who had only known me 3 weeks. Unfortunately it was all down hill from there. Husband arrived home late from work, so i had already cooked dinner, as it was too late to go out, he ate dinner, said happy birthday before giving me a kiss and went to bed. This was after receiving a phone call from my mums boyfriend saying she had been hit by a car on her bike. (was okay but bruised and in hospital) and a quick call from my brother, dad and mother in law wishing me a ‘great day’.

They better pick up their game next year or im treating myself to a holiday.

  • Some guys are as bad with wedding anniversaries, including special ones like, 1st, 20th, 25th. My Dad shocked my Mum by buying her a beautiful brooch on their 24th Wedding Anniversary. He completely forgot their 25th…..or said he did. I can’t remember him ever taking her out to dinner….or buying her flowers.

  • Great story. It put a smile on my face too. Sorry. But you will laugh about it one day. My 2 lovely sons live interstate and my birthday was coming up the next day .Eldest son reminded youngest son don’t forget to ring mum it is her birthday tomorrow. Youngest son rang mum the next day oldest son forgot and remembered a few days later. I laughed and thought it was quite funny.

  • My husband is always lovely on my birthday but we don’t often exchange gifts. We just allow ourselves a treat of some sort. This year I’m going to pay for his ute to be resprayed, I want to get my first ever luxury facial, ( his is going to cost waaaaaaaay more than mine, but oh well). It’s just easier we agree on the money to be spent, if any, and get our own thing. Meanwhile my own mother and father are sooooooooooooooo slack, many times they haven’t wished me, their only daughter Happy Birthday, or maybe 3 days after, casually. I fuss over them like an idiot for their birthdays and Mothers/ Fathers day and always buy them and my 3 brothers gifts and make them a special cake. Well, stuff that, none of them could be bothered when it comes to me or my family so this year they can feel a bit lonelier. Instead of the usual specially chosen gift, chocy’s and card I give to Mum for Mother’s Day, this year I just texted her LOL. As for Christmas, they have never given their ONLY grandchildren, my sons a gift!!! Or on their birthdays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so angry this year when they didn’t even ring my eldest son, he adores them and they couldn’t even bloody ring him. I let them know that this is the last year they are getting away with it, and how let down he would feel. So many of us have slackos too :(
