Hello!

I’m in need of some new furniture & was thinking of IKEA however, I recently visited an op shop,& was amazed at the beautiful items of furniture, furnishings & ceramics. I’d really only thought about clothes from an op,shop in the past but will now be looking out for what I need in op shops. You may have to visit a few but some of the furniture was antique looking & so affordable.

  • Op shops are amazing and if you have one in a good area then the items tend to be very good and sometimes not even used with the tags on!

  • These days furniture is so expensive and if an item is in good condition and you like it , there is nothing wrong at purchasing one at any Op Shop. The only thing I would be hesitant in buying are fabric ones as I find materials absorb bacteria and there maybe rips you don’t see, otherwise wooden ones or if lucky a nice leather one would be great bargain . Happy shopping .

  • I often check out the local op shops and I’m usually surprised at what they have to offer. It’s a wonderful place to visit and often I just hang out there for a friendly chat. My kids love going too as we always leave with something for everyone

  • I really enjoy getting utterly lost in OP SHOPS. The things some people get rid of! As the saying goes…one man’s trash is another man’s treasure! I could spend days just looking and imaging the stories behind the items!

  • Mum gets wool and teddy bear. She uses the wool to make jumpers and toys for children and washes the teddy and dresses them for children as well she does a lot of charity work.

  • I tend to donate a lot of old clothes and items to op shops. I still haven’t found anything I like to purchase from op shops but I certainly do not mind having a look to see what is available. Someday I will find that special treasure.

  • Its a great way to recycle. I often drop off clothes, household items, etc that the family has outgrown or no longer needs. Today I found a lovely book of Monet’s paintings for $2. One person’s trash is my treasure and the $2 goes to charity so its a win win situation.

  • Op shops can be fantastic! We parked our car outside one yesterday that I had never seen before to go into Coles. Came out with a beautiful soft toy bunny, a pair of shoes that were in excellent condition for Miss nearly 4 and a firefighter dress up top all for $8.
The local Salvo’s are fantastic too for furniture.

  • op shops are great but I find that clothes aren’t that cheap and they aren’t willing to put the price down. These days you can get cheaper new clothes from the shops. All the stuff that is in store is donated so there for would be 100% profit so why not drop the price.

  • Love op shops. We always put our unwanted stuff into a local op shop (provided its still usable). One persons trash is another ones treasure!

We grew up on op shop clothing too. Nothing wrong with that!
