Hello!

Today I got a new iPhone 5, as I previously had a 4. I was holding off as I was wondering about other phones and plans out there on the market. With that I bought a WiFi device for $144 and it gets me 10GB for $45 and is month by month so I can cancel any time I wish. They were fantastic in store and the WiFi worked just as they said and is lightening quick. I was previously paying more on my old plan than both of these services combined. I didn’t want to get an internet plan that involved a home phone as I never use the one I have that is non billed as it is for in bound calls only. My WiFi device will be perfect as more and more my son is coming home with homework requiring internet research. I can use this device for many devices and if I included my phone I get 12GB per month. I know a lot of people have turned away from the bigger companies but if you look into them some of the deals are great.

  • Optus do some great deals but where i live they just dont have the signal so i have no choice but to go with Telstra and pay a small fortune.

  • I have my mobile with Optus, l am very happy with my plan and my Internet that is included.

  • We used to be with Optus for years and had no problem at all, when we moved to a rural area our only choice was Telstra and we’ve had no problems with their service either.

  • Good to get real feedback rather than trying to make sense of all the ads from different companies. I’m with Telstra, but I’m looking at getting a new phone, and I definitely won’t stay with Telstra. I’ve heard too much bad stuff about Vodafone, so I’ll check out Optus. Thanks for sharing your experience.

  • That was some good feedback to read, sure it will come in handy for those interested in upgrading or changing their current provider/phone.

  • My daughter has everything with Optus and also says that they have great customer service. She has also rang and asked about reducing her internet cost and they helped move her to a great plan which combined her home phone and internet for a low monthly cost (less that what she was paying for just the phone)!

  • Interesting and great feedback. I am currently very dissatisfied with my phone usage provider and knew there would be many other packages with other providers that are much more affordable and better value for money. I will look into this further now.

  • It’s a rare thing to hear about good service from a telecommunications company these days.

    • You’re right and when I walked in I didn’t expect to get the exceptional service I did. Everything worked exactly as the man said it would (he was the manager of the store, and rightly so as his customer service and leading by example was amazing). I was shown how to use my new devices and what to expect when I hooked them up to my laptop and everything I could do and what to avoid to not cost me more money, as I’m on a budget like operator assistance, face time calls and 13 numbers and of course – and it made me chuckle 1900 numbers lol! :)

  • That’s great, it is always nice when you get good service.

  • We are rural and have the satellite as our only way to get internet and pay dearly for it and do not get the service or speed we are suppose to and I am wanting to change as even if it is a dongle that only works in the car is better than what we have. So I will be checking out alot of places to see what they have to offer and have no doubt we will end up saving money. If we can not find better than I am prepared to have no internet that to have what we have. This is the thing is now days kids need the internet more and more for school work and is becoming less and less of a treat so to speak but something that is much needed and you need to shop around with a open mind to find the best for you

  • Much better than Telstra/bigpond. We are rural, pay through the nose compared to the city, and get intermittent service both on mobiles and broadband. Not that they care, waste of time complaining, they get our money for virtually non existent service.

    • Yes when I gave grandma my iPhone 3 I said to her why don’t you try another company or look around? She replied that Telstra was the only company in her area of Tasmania that she was able to get reception through. It’s hard for people who live in rural areas and have to pay big sums of money.
