Today while waiting to have a ct-scan I was sitting with my husband and near a few people when the lady come out to organise Iv contrast for me I had told her I’m alergiic to it and she goes oh well I need to talk to the big boss and organise the oral contrast instead, so she went back and the ladies sitting near us turned to me and said wow that’s got to be hard when you need a ct-scan (I swell up in the throat) and I said it is, one lady said see I would have thought looking at you that you would be an easy case in out no worries but she said see there you go you don’t know what happens behind close doors what people go through. Another lady was saying about depression and how bad she is and she asked if I suffer from depression I said yes as I’ve lost one of my beautiful sons, got burnt, domestic violence survivor and at this point in time pretty ill and she said see there you go you smile and talk to us with such happiness you would never know. I try to be happy other wise I would just cry so much. I love talking to people and what they go through and know there are much worse of then me.

  • That statement is so true! A smile can hide many things and generally it is people (like yourself) who open up and be truthful that dispel the negative image of depression and other emotional issues. I hope that your health concerns are sorted now :)

    • Very true and I hope that more people can talk to others and it helps them and I have a few things going on and I hope by the end of the year I’ll have most sorted and thank you so much for asking xx

  • Thankyou for sharing your story. Grief, loss, depression, anxiety, health issues be it physically or mentally are all very hard to deal with. While there maybe people who seem to be worse off don’t ever down play your situation because it is your pain and hurt. It is good to talk about it because it helps to heal and can help others work through their own situations.

    • Thank you and that is so true nothing is easy but if you can listen or make someone smile at least once a day that is great.xx

  • That’s excellent that you are getting relief by talking to others. I work in a high stress emergency role and the best things that councillors tell us to do is talk to each other and support each other.

    • That is very true and we find out that what we say to someone could mean we make them smile or feel not so alone to.. I hope that you get to speak to theirs to with your job afterwards.xx

  • You can never take people at face value, as the people who hurt most end to hide it well. while we think they sometimes have it all they are suffering inside. apperances are deceiving. Wishing you well.
