The last 5 years I have been on a roller coaster ride with my son. After thinking many times there was something wrong with him and his bizarre behaviours. He started school last year and his teacher would approach me about him not being able to sit still , concentrate and his compulsive behaviours. She even suggested to take him to a doctor and get a possible diagnosis of a condition. I was afraid to do this as the worst feeling is thinking there is something wrong with your child, I had thought it before but it hits home more when someone else if telling you this especially in the education sector. I spoke to another mother at school about my concerns as I heard her son couldn’t have certain preservatives, additives and colours in food. She informed me that her son used to be like mine so I thought I had to give it a shot. After 3 weeks on the diet, I was noticing a difference and so was his teacher. It continued to improve and now my son is happier and has lost the compulsiveness. He doesn’t get in trouble anymore and is enjoying school. He reacted to the foods I was feeding him and If I didnt reach out for advice he could of stayed unhappy and not enjoying school. My daughter also follows the diet and so do I. Our children shouldn’t be eating all the nasty things put in food anyway!

  • Additives and preservatives can be so damaging. As is the hidden sugar in a lot of foods too. It’s not right that the big food companies can keep on putting this poison in our kids foods

  • To make sure what my son eat is healthy and good for him, I prefer to cook everyday, no junk foods or preservatives on there.

  • I find that it is in foods you wouldn’t expect it to be in too and that you would assume were healthy. As consumers I think we need to make it known to the manufacturers that this is not what we want in our food!

  • I think there are way too many additives and preservatives in today’s supermarket choices. Would be interested to know which additives and preservatives you are avoiding etc. my son has a slight problem in this sort of area as well.
