I love reading to my kids all the time I don’t care if I read for an hour at a time 3 to 4 times a day. But I do love reading to my kids before they go to bed. Sometimes I read the same books but as long as the kids like it I don’t care. We have do many books I buy news ones every week. Short story’s and long Stories

  • we are book-crazy in our house too! especially my daughter who is nearly 3. She wants you to read to her all day! When no one is reading to her, she reads to herself or her teddies. It’s so cute- she remembers the stories and recites them as best she can.
She goes to sleep nearly every night with a teddy in one hand and a book in the other! I love it!

  • I work most nights, so Daddy reads the bedtime story. a while back he couldn’t work out how I managed to read “new” books, as every night bub would want the same one over & over. when I read to him, he gets to pick one & mum picks 2. we have to read mums books first, then we finish off with the one he’s chosen. he’s discovered a few new favourites this way!

  • Don’t forget to utilize your local public library for books to read to the kids. It can save you an absolute fortune, and if there’s a book they really love & want you to read over & over again, then you can buy it. sometimes the library also sell ex-library books for very reasonable prices.

  • My husband and I also love to read books to our 4yr old son each night before bed, it is a routine that he loves to stick with and I think it has helped his word recognition, sounds and speech.

  • reading to your kids is great isn’t it? My son who is in prep has just started reading and its even more fun when they can read to you. It might take more than twice the time to read a story but i just love it.

  • I have been constantly buying books for my five month old. I want him to love reading, to be able to flick through his little library and choose what he wants to read. Already he is so animated when I read to him – he loves all the voices I do.

    • I try to do all kinds of voice but they always sound the same, but he loves the voices so that’s wat counts and having fun and enjoying reading

  • Reading to your kids is so important, not only for teaching them to love books, but its a great activity to do together for family time. My husband and I both always read to our kids, every day and bed time. They love books and are both great at English at school. My teen now recommends books for me to read. The latest was A fault in our Stars. Then the family went to see the movie together. Great family times.

    • That’s great that your kids can tell you some books to read, my son lives any books at the moment , but I do enjoy reading to him as long as he does

  • My two year old won’t sit still long enough to have a story read to her…but I keep trying. I’ve got lots of different books to try to peak her interest. She is slowly becoming more and more interested and likes ones that have a noise button or a flap. I am looking forward to reading her some of my favourite stories from when I was a child :)

    • It is a pain when u r trying to read and they move like lil beans

  • I’m sure you’re children are going to be great readers, as you have set a great example in showing the joys of reading.
