Hello!

Hiya, I have a similar situation in that one of my 3 sisters and her partner I refuse to let my children associate with. They are just not right in the head, for instance over summer the youngest (then 4-5 months) was toddling round in just a nappy and t-shirt due to weather, this was apparently horrible uncomfortable for them as the child was not wearing pants. They yell at the children for no reason and have once taken my niece away for “discipline” in a room by themselves. They are just not appropriate in my opinion and I don’t want them near my children (including nieces/nephews however I can’t stop that) especially not alone!!

Anyway to get back to your issue. I now see most of the rest of the family without them at cafe’s and restaurants etc. May not be practical for you, however if you don’t feel your child is safe, what other choice do you have? Even if they can only meet up once a month and not all together it is better than nothing and it will be their choice. It is a shame and some of them will complain you are over reacting, however at the end of the day your children’s safety should come first not their thoughts. I wish you all the best, what a tough time for your family!

  • In very hot weather I see no problem just using a t-shirt and nappy. Besides nappies would not be that cool with the built-in protection to prevent leaks.
At least your child had a t-shirt on, no running around risking getting sunburnt.
Your priority is the safety and wellbeing of your children.

  • For sure, there’s nothing more important then your children’s health and safety. Who cares if others think you are over reacting, as long as your kids are ok

  • I don’t blame you for restricting your children’s access to people who would try to discipline them
