Hello!

Don’t feel guilty – I do too! I did join a mothers group, and it was awful. They were all far richer than us, and loved to show it off – they would think nothing of dropping 3 grand in an afternoon shopping trip – I couldn’t afford the cup of coffee!

Most get togethers were spent listening to them boasting about renovations they were doing, and worse, how they were weaning their kids onot solids at 3- 4 months so they wouldn’t have to deal with breast feeding and room decorating.

The biggest topic was how soon could they dump their kids onto grandparents or childcare to get their “me time”, and where could they leave their babies to go on holdiay.

They were awful!

One or two were ok, but on the whole I was soooo uncomfortable, usually ignored, and generally unimpressed.

The last email I got was suggesting how much alcohol they could bring to a champagne breakfast, I replied saying not a good idea as all would be driving home afterwards, and thank god, I got no more invites.

I felt a bit bad because it would have been good for little one to have people her own age, and I feel worse when friends/family go on about still being in contact years later, but on the whole – don’t worry you didn’t miss much!

I take mine to playtime at the local gymnasium, swimming, playgroup and parsk, and have met some really nice people that way!
