At the supermarket and master two who is very vocal and loves to chat where at the checkout. Master 2 said good afternoon to the checkout lady who does not speck to him, he them says it a bit louder Good afternoon lady. She still does not say anything to him, so being the kid he is the next thing out off his mouth is “you know if you just said hi and did not be rude I would be happy” trying my best my to pee myself laughing when he turns to me and says mummy you need to teach her manners like you do me. At which point the lady behind me and myself where almost rolling on the floor.
The sad bit is the checkout lady still did not say a word to him

  • Really? How could she witness that and not even speak to him?! Sounds like she needs lessons in manners

  • Well I think your son had it right. Great manners, and that is what is lacking in the world – common courtesy and passing the time of day with strangers. We don’t interact with each other much anymore, and a lot is due to modern technology. Good on your boy.

  • wow i am sure that it would’nt have hurt to just say hi and smile. some people have no clue. so you can perform a job but it takes a different type of person to pull off the customer service

  • Wow what a gorgeous child you have. I too taught my children to say hello but these days checkout operators seem more like robots than humans — it’s no wonder my eldest always prefers to use a self serve checkout

  • What a gorgeous son, with beautiful manners. I feel sorry for the ‘customer service’ lady for her disgraceful ways or for her lack of hearing him.

  • OMG I TOTALLY LOVE IT… I think ppl these days have lost their love and compassion and their youth, they are so lost within themselves they cant even bring a smile to a 2 yr old!!! he sounds super amazing…<3

  • I am seriously wondering if this check out operator had a hearing impairment? but if they do not and it was a case of just rudeness, then good on your son for bring up the manners remark.

  • this made me smile and he sounds lovely and a delight and you do find alot of rude people out there doing jobs where they come into contact with the public whom just do not have the personality to be in contact with people.

  • Some people! I always say hi back, especially to kids!

  • Either the check out operator was very rude or had a genuine reason for not responding such as hearing impairment.

  • How rude by the customer service officer, or should I say ‘uncustomer’, Good on your little man for being the better person.

  • Erm – this is very funny, but I do have to point out that the checkout lady may genuinely not have heard him. (I have a hearing impaired son, so tend to notice this sort of thing).

  • Your son sounds like he has a wonderful mother who should be very proud of him and his manners. You should also be proud of yourself. Unfortunately the check out person could learn a thing or two from your son.
