Hello!

I am quietly planning a super special surprise gift for someone special that has gone through a very, very rough time and would like to surprise them with a super special treat. I am exploring the possibility of getting them an adventure present such as a skydiving experience or hot air balloon experience. Has anyone on this site had any experience with either of these adventure activities? I would appreciate hearing all about it, including the costs and was it exciting, memorable and worth it. Recommendations would also be appreciated for businesses that offer a good service for these activities.

  • google reviews for the places that you are looking at and you can sort of gauge, what is worth paying for.

  • I would be 100% sure your friend would enjoy which ever thrill you organise. I was going to organise similar things as an 18th present. I thought it would be a grant, memorable gift. Until I spoke to the gift recipient :/ Glad I didn’t waste my money

  • I don’t know if either option sounds that great for someone who’s been through a rough time. I think something more nurturing & healing eg day spa would be more appealing. They’ve probably had enough stress & adrenaline surging through their body without having to jump out of a plane!

  • I loved skydiving (before kids) and did 16 jumps. The thought of hot air ballooning makes me ill – crazy I know but it’s a heights thing and about being in control and when I jumped alone I was in control. I guess it depends on the person but make sure it’s something they want to do. Family once gave me a cable tree tops zip line experience and I did not want to go and it made me feel bad when I had to explain it wasn’t for me. Red Balloon have fantastic experiences and a voucher means they could choose.

  • Hot air balloons are about $400 . I think it might be a better option to buy a voucher and then the person can choose their experiences.
There is a website http://www.adrenaline.com.au they have a massive range of adventures and sell vouchers

    • I like your idea – then a person can choose their own experience.

  • I’d want to be really sure they were comfortable with it before you bought a sky diving experience. That’s not for everyone.

  • Depending on the persons health and what they are into, if they are a thrill seeker I would go for the sky diving. Or my sister got dad a lap in one of the Racing cars going at great speed he loved it, it was the best choice for him as he is over 70 years old and loves watching the racing cars. I have personally been on a champange hot air ballon ride at sunset and it was lovely( this was in victoria’s wine region). it was followed by a lovely picnic put together by my hubby full of crossiants, juice, more sparkling wine cheese and fruits and dip. There is nothing like looking out over the lanscape first thing in the morning been able to apreciate nature before the hussle and rush of the day starts. What state do you live in to help with peoples suggestions.
Or ifs a female you could have a pamper day at a spa for the two of you.
