Heading to the snow is incredibly fun but also incredibly expensive. Did you know that if you book in early for the snow you can get early bird deals saving heaps on accommodation and passes? Alternatively, going earlier or later in the ski season can also be a money saver? Another saving tip is to buy secondhand snow gear from eBay or gumtree, again saving you money!

  • The only problem with booking early is if it is a late snow fall you don’t get your money back. We wait to see what the season is looking like first and then book.

  • I’ve found the Aldi snow gear sale to be a great place to buy ski stuff. I’m not that much into second hand clothes.. Just doesn’t sit well with me.

  • Handy to know, must be similar to booking flights as far out from the date that you need as well much cheaper!

  • We travel up to mount Wellington when there’s snow on top, I bought my winter jacket in a sale they had when winter was over and we also got my daughters snow suit from there half price. I love sales and we put away the clothes in an air tight tub until thAt season comes around. Thanks for your tips in saving $

  • It’s very expensive to go skiing indeed. We went once and decided to fly to New Zealand because it was cheaper than going inside Australia. Buy second hand clothes is very important indeed, in particular with kids that will outgrow the clothes anyway.
