Hello!

Just a reminder that this week is Social Inclusion Week – see www.socialinclusionweek.com.au One of the ways that social inclusion can be fostered in your community is through Street Parties or similar (see the web site).

We have a few elderly residents in our street who live alone (one has just had a hip replacement, and another is undergoing cancer treatment). I am so glad we took the time to get to know our neighbours, as now it makes it easy to offer help – our 8 year old daughter makes it her responsibility to take in mail and have a chat.

Inclusive neighbourhoods also help provide a barrier against violence and loneliness. So important.

  • I had never heard of social inclusion. What a superb initiative for those alone in our communities

  • Being community minded is indeed important for everyone and teaching kids at an early age to be involved sets up a life long habit of being a member of an inclusive community.

    • Thanks. It’s amazing how few people know their neighbours, let alone their elderly neighbours.

      • I love to share positive messages and posts too – good on you! :)
