Hello!

I married the most wonderful man. Its funny you know, when we met on the steps of a pub I was staying in when I started a new job close by, I thought he was awful. But…there was something about him. He struggled to be around women, he would rather be with his mates in the pub, until we met. We had a mutual friend, she told him I was a bit ditty, she told me he was a local drunk, but when we met and started dating, the publican always said we would get married, we both said NO< NOT US. Then they all found out we were dating when I left a pizza box with his name on it outside my room. I used to leave notes for him under his door, funnily enough that was 30 years ago this month, we have just celebrated our 28th Wedding Anniversary.

My hubby was a bit funny, he earnt his money and the money I earnt was ours, but over the years, he started trusting me. It was because of his ex, she took all his money. As we had two children which turned into 5, I had a son in my first marriage, he had 2 daughters from his first marriage, then we had 2 together. We all got on real well. When both kids were in primary school, hubby became Mr Mom. He worked at night, I worked during the day, we only saw 1 hour of eachother in the mornings, then we had a sitter from 3pm until I arrived home at 6pm.
Now, for the last 12 years, he has been looking after me as my full time carer. He is wonderful, does all the cooking, cleaning, showering me, putting up with my tears, frustration and all that I used to do. I can't do any cleaning, or anything around the place anymore. Occasionally, I would try, but only burn the dinner, or get half the dishes done, so he says to leave the lot. He never complains, never whinges, he is my soul mate, my hero.
I wish there were awards for men or husbands that do so much. He cannot work full time otherwise he would run ragged. He knows when I need a shoulder, he knows when I need a hug. The greatest man in the world. I love him so much.
I want you to know that at the moment, you may have a demanding husband, who doesn't do much at all, but when he needs to stand up to the task, he will. I know it. because my man has. I love you my dearest Michael.

  • My son in law is a Michael too and when my daughter had a back injury he turned into super Dad (happened when my grand daughter was a new born). He really stepped up the plate. Hope you and your husband have a wonderful anniversary :)

  • Thank you for your beautiful comments, to the ladies also married to a “Michael”, that is so incredible. I just read out some of these comments out to mick, I think his head is swelling, he had to go outside. The excuse was to feed all the animals we have.

Thank you and if you are still waiting for your soul mate, he will be there by your side when you least expect it.

  • You are very lucky :) I backed the wrong horse lol and have had to deal with it even six years post separation. The only saving grace is I have the most kind, warm hearted little boy. I’m so glad you have such a caring, loving husband and this is such a lovely post.
