Hubby is getting tremendous stress at work that it has already causing him healthy problems. He needs to see a cardiologist and is also having terrible migraines that makes him vomit violently some nights. As his wife, my heartaches to see him like this so I told him to quit his job and I’ll go to work instead. I loved my old job and my boss is happy to take my back but hubby cannot get over his pride. The thought of the wife working and him staying at home to look after our baby daughter literally makes him feel impotent. Arghhh what am I gonna do?!!!

  • There’s not too many stay at home dads, the stay at home mums way outweigh the dads, but they are out there. He’s being silly, sounds like he needs a change. Even if he does it for a short while, it doesn’t need to be forever

  • Caring for kids is an important role and busy role and there will be no time for him to feel anything but tired! ;)

  • My husband is a bit older than me and quit his job to stay home and look after our daughter. He loves being the stay at home dad. I would love not to have to work full time, but we really can’t afford it.

  • Yes we have been discussing about this and he’s quite keen to give it a try. Let’s see how it goes after the baby is old enough.

  • I think stay at home dads are awesome and sexy BTW! Geez has he any idea what’s he’s in for! No peer pressure just the family rewarding kind. Why not swap roles for 6 months and see? It cant do any harm!

  • I have neighbours and wife is a doctor and hubby is a stay at home dad and he loves it. I think it would be precious to have a father spend more time with their child and it can be fun maybe find some other stay at home dads or groups for him to look into see it’s pretty normal?

  • You could tell him to put a different spin on things. Like ‘my wife insisted on having a change in her routine and wanted to have a turn away from the house.’ The other comment about the trial is a good idea, that way is sounds temporary to him and by then he might like staying at home or you could explain how it would be awesome for him to see all the special moments babies have when they are little – all the ‘first’s and learning moments.

  • Stay at home Dads is so common these days.
Sometimes men have to swallow their pride and do what they need to
Kids would love daddy to be home
maybe set a time, say its a trial for 6 months, and its for him to de stress and then you can see where things are in 6 months
