Story Stop and Smell the Roses

Have you all ever stopped and thought about our sense of smell and his it works? Now I’m no genius, so I can’t explain it all medically, but basically……minute particles of whatever we are smelling, enter our nostrils so we can smell them. Now this is wonderful for a roast lamb cooking away, a fragrant rose, a newly bathed baby and your favourite perfume, all us good! But what about when you go into the toilet after someone, or the roadkill on roadsides, a strangers BO on the bus or a fart? Now it gets gross thinking of tiny particles of these things entering our body. Sometimes I just have to pinch my nostrils together so nothing gets in :/

  • I went to Fragonard’s the perfume house near Monte Carlo and was told a nose, the person that smells all the perfumes can detect and identify over 3000 different smells. Can you believe that? I find it quite difficult to believe and they say wine nosers can smell up to 7000 different smells. That I FIND REALLY HARD TO SWALLOW! LOL!!!

  • There are lots of smells and I choose to smell the nice ones – roses, fresh flowers, perfume, ocean breeze, baked goods and more… They outweigh the bad smells! :)

  • A sense of smell is good at detecting good smells. bad smells and protects people from danger too. Food that may not look bad, may have a foul odour and mould may not be seen but you sure can smell it!
