Hello!

In all my life I have never been able to take a photo that comes out clear and is easily discernible to be what it is. I started when I was little girl about 8 or 9 with a ‘box brownie’ [most of you wouldn’t know what this is] that was ‘guaranteed’ to give a good photo all the time. Mine were blurred. I then moved on to a 36 mm frame camera, [this was going to work, said everyone, it’s the latest technology] – still blurred photos. Nothing worked all my life and now my children and grandchildren say – use your phone, it will work. They are as amazed as I am that I still take blurred photos – nothing has ever worked throughout my life – so that is why I don’t add photos to my comments and why I can’t enter the food and cooking section with my recipes [which are good] because I can’t send you a clear photo. That is of course providing I could navigate the way to send it to your site.

  • Some digital cameras have a ‘vibration reduction’ option and settings on your mobile that will only take a picture when it is in focus. If you have a decent phone, you can set this up. I took mine off as my toddler moves faster than the camera and it meant no pictures! The other thing I would suggest (and I just say this from personal experience) have you had your eyes tested? I was one of those people like the specsavers ad that waved to people they didn’t know and didn’t see people that I did know etc. New glasses really changed what I thought was ‘in focus’!

  • Steady hands make sure your holding the camera still, are you pulling the camera away too quick ? . I try to hold still until the picture comes up on the screen that way I’m sure it’s clear. Also make sure the camera has finished focusing before you click, on an I phone you can tap the screen to adjust focus and lighting.

    • I am using a point and click camera, not a tablet or phone and think I am about to give up. Just wanted to post some nice recipes here on MoM, but adding a photo of the recipe is something I cannot do. Not to worry.

  • I am really hoping this new camera we have bought will finally stop my problem, but so far I haven’t had any luck. My other problem of course is transferring from the camera to this page – at 70 do I really need these problems?

    • Sounds like a job the grandkids could help with!

      • Problem is my grandchildren are in northern NSW and I live in Melbourne.

  • Most digital cameras these days have in built image stabilizers and auto-focus so I can imagine how frustrating it must be if you still get blurred images from them. Hmm maybe invest in a tri-pod or bean bag type thing that you can rest your arm on the stabilising any movement with your hand/arm. Good luck, I hope one day you achieve the shot!

  • yes well i take multiple photos and people probably think i’m crazy because i am saying “hang on, 1 more” repeatedly. Thank god for digital technology and you can have the luxury of multiple attempts lol

    • That is definitely a benefit with digital cameras – thank heavens my trying doesn’t cost the earth like it used when I had to have the film processed.

  • It must be frustrating indeed. Have you ever tried putting the camera on a tripod?

    • Have had many demonstrations throughout my life – even a tripod doesn’t work – have used up countless rolls of film in my earlier years to try to overcome the problem. I have been told I move/shake/shudder at the crucial moment of hitting the button/trigger. My hubby even bought a non-shake camera 10x, as he would have loved a few photos of him at strategic places/destinations we have travelled to. Not one of the pictures I took was worth keeping for us. And I don’t always have a friend around when I have just cooked a masterpiece for the two of us – the recipe section doesn’t just want the recipe it wants a photo too.

  • Maybe you could get someone else to take your photos?

    • They could demonstrate and help you out with it; sometimes we all need help with working out things.

  • Maybe try a tutorial online on taking photos or ask a family member to help out. They might be able to help you with photos. Good Luck!
