I have 2 children with the eldest being 8 years old. Over the last week my eldest has started referring to Easter Sunday as “Chocolate Day”. I find this offensive as I want them to celebrate the true meaning of Easter. I’ve started thinking about telling my kids that there isn’t an Easter Bunny and not celebrating with chocolate this year. I am finding more and more families celebrating holidays without explaining to their children the true meaning of the holiday. It makes us a materialist society where the true meanings of events are lost behind the greed of receiving. Easter is no longer about Jesus on the cross and celebrating his life by sharing Hot Cross Buns with familiy, now it’s all about a fictious easter bunny and eating chocolate eggs.
