Time Capsule Opening at Primary School Graduation

My 12 year old daughter came home from school with a huge bag and a bigger smile on her face yesterday…..they had opened their time capsules that they had buried 4 years earlier.
I had forgotten all about it to be honest and was amazed at the things inside. There were photos, drawings, a lock of hair, a list of her favourite things and what she wanted to be when she grew up.
The school (Safety Bay Primary in WA) had even invited the children who had since left to come back and open theirs too.
It was an awesome idea for her primary school graduation and something she will cherish forever.
Has your child’s school done anything like this?

yeah we did a similar thing in school. i think that it is another 5 or so years until they open the capsule. my old school is still there and looks to stay around for awhile! my daughter did a very small scale thing with her class. at the start of the year , the kids took photos etc and made up a shoe box of special memories and they got the box back at christmas and it WAS FULL of school memories! The teachers had taken pics of the kids all through the year and it was sooo beyond sweet to open that for chrissie.! I got a glimpse into my child’s school activities! The other years, i had volunteered at school but this year i was a lot busier at home so it was so sweet to not really miss out afterall!

Its a great idea all schools should do it, just to see how their ideas hopes and dreams chnge over time. My school did that in high school over 20 years ago. But is moved sites and is now another school. I wil have to find out if they ever did dig up the capsule or not.

Oh! It’s fantastic! My daughter buried one time capsule at school at the beginning of this year, in Year 7. They will open it at the end of high school. I think it’s a wonderful idea!!

No, our school doesn’t do this, but sounds wonderful for the students. Does your school do it each year, or was this for a special anniversary year?
