Where to start! For the past 2 and a half years I’ve had the sweetest, nicest little girl and all of a sudden I am the mother of an angry, screaming, tantrum chucking almost 3yr old girl. I don’t know if I have done something wrong to make her start acting like this she is constantly screaming at me and punching me all day and I’m finding hard to keep it together and not scream back at her. I can’t dress her with out yelling at me for an hour that her pants hurt she doesn’t want to wear that shirt, no shoes ect. She goes to bed at 8pm and is up at 7:30am. She does not get a day sleep due to not going to bed till midnight if she has a day nap. Is this normal for her age will it pass and how do I manage it cause at the moment I’m at a loss and as the days go on it seems to be getting worse and I find my partner her daddy getting angry and withdrawn from her when she acts like this, don’t get me wrong he loves her more then anything but it’s just putting so much stress on all of us, she is making all the fun times we plan and activities for her not very enjoyable at all :(

  • Maybe give her a choice of outfit? Try not to react to her bad behaviour, instead catch her being good and heap on the praise.

  • Hi my son is the same but he has started it at age 5. As he is a bit older I give him a choice of two outfit and he know he can not leave his room untill he is dressed. He can cry and scream at me as much as he likes. But I kniw he is just trying to push my buttons. It seems to be working becauwe things are getting better :)

  • My daughter (who is just turned 3) has been doing the same thing. They are just testing us. She also doesn’t have a day sleep. Stay strong, I have put in the laundry a ‘thinking chair’ for the times she misbehaves, and a reward system for if she is a good girl.

  • My daughter did the same thing (but no punching) clothes hurt her etc.. So how I deal with it is.. She gets a choice out of two outfits what she wears. Soemtimes it’s good if a doctor or professional ie dentist tells her she MUST let mummy or daddy do something. It’s just her trying to find her individuality ..

    • Thanks I’ve noticed she is fine when we are out just a nightmare at home and trying to get ready. Will give the clothes option a try as well :)

  • My Grandson of this age does the same thing but my Daughter has been reffered to a specialist with him but he also has hearing loss in both ears. So it is hard to say if it is just the age although I never had it with my kids at that age and have other Grandchildren that did not do this but others that do chuck tanties. Rule out medical first which is easy to do than you can find a starting point

    • Hi thank you for your advice, everyone keeps telling me it’s just the age she’s at and she’s testing me but I feel there is more to it. I may take your advise and see her GP it wouldn’t hurt to rule out everything :) thank you
