Hello!

My husband is FIFO, so we try and schedule things for when he is home (a sensible precaution as we have three children aged 3.5 and under). So the next thing to schedule was starting to toilet train Charlotte (who just turned two). We had agreed that we would do that when hubby next got home…

Apparently not.

The very morning that hubby left for work, Charlotte decided that No, she would not wear nappies today. Be it a disposable or a MCN, off it would come. She would then give us a 5 second warning of “Poo! Poo!” before out it would come… And before you say “that’s great, she is obviously ready to toilet train” (which, to be honest, she is) let me share with you everything else that was happening that week (hence the reason I was hoping to wait till hubby was home). My youngest (7 months) is still breastfed and has a cold, which means I am feeding her more often than usual as she is very unsettled. One of our cats went missing for 3 days, only to finally come home with a very gory leg, requiring repeated trips to the vet (now proudly sporting a cone of shame bwahahaha). We also will be moving house soon, so there are boxes everywhere in varying stages of pack-ed-ness. My eldest has just started kindy, requiring careful scheduling for drop-off and pick ups. Oh yes, and I am trying to get the house in order for Charlotte’s birthday party. Plus playgroup and Gymbaroo for my two youngest. Fun times! Needless to say, I have been stealthily helping myself to the toilet training reward freddo frogs!

  • I had a really hard time with my 20mth old and that was with the knowledge my husband would be home at 6pm. 3 under 3.5 how do you manage??!

  • I’d probably would have finished the pack on the first day!

  • good luck with training! i would be eating those freddos as well. You deserve it for all that you have to deal with. Must be so hard to be a fifo wife. My hubby is a shiftworker and that leaves me feeling like a single mother to three kids most of the time

  • Kids rarely consider everything else you have to deal with when they “schedule” something.

  • I don’t think toilet training is something you can schedule. Good luck with all you have going on though :)
