Hello!

Before I got pregnant, my TV viewing habits would have been bad enough to scare most people with a weak stomach. Horrors, thrillers and crime shows were among my favourites. When my son was born, I was at a bit of a viewing crossroads. From a very young age the lights and colours of the TV fascinated him, so blood and gore was definitely out.

I began to look around for alternatives. With over 100 channels, I figured I would be able to find something I would enjoy that was ‘baby friendly’. Flicking through the channels originally upset me. I mean, Garfield never talked when I was a kid, and the Care Bears were puppets, not CG. I decided to give them a go anyway, as there is only so long you can watch documentaries on digging holes in the ground. To my surprise, and to my son’s delight, I have rediscovered my love of kids cartoons. Rather than see them as I did when I was younger, I now see the morals they are trying to instil in kids, and for that I admire them.

Although we don’t sit in front of the TV all day it is good to know that when we do, there will be something on we can both enjoy.

  • I was surprised how much I got into the early morning TV shows when mine were babies, the shows I now describe as ‘crap.’ Lol. 2am with a baby who won’t settle, this crap became my friend, kept me sane and focussed. Now…..it’s crap again, it’s SO bad!!

  • I get annoyed with the some of the cartoons my Mr11 likes to watch. They are nothing like Bugs and Tweety and such but I guess… The times, they are a changing. haha
