i am a mum of 3, i think that sentence is enough to explain the title of my story. but i just wanted to share how my one thing i loved to do became not so preferred any more, wearing jewelry.now i had always been a liker of tiny, detailed earrings, ring and lockets. but when my first delicate chain was broken by my first bub. she was just about 6 months old laying in my lap and she just grabbed my chain and pulled it. i was so sad, wanting to just fix it. not knowing that i won’t be wearing it anymore. it got fixed in few weeks, but than i put in in the suitcase, safe and sound. my tiny delicate beautiful earrings became a threat to my 2 year old. when i missed one and couldn’t find it anymore. my younger daughter told me that she had seen it in lil brother’s hand. i was so scared and went straight to hospital. he looked fine but i desperately wanted an x ray. not that i wanted to see my earring but i did wanted to see if i won’t be hurting him. An x ray was taken and there was nothing in there. docs told me even if it has passed down his system. it will eventually come out. i threw away my other earring from the car on my way back home. still worried would if any problem or bleeding starts. when i entered home i saw it on the corner of the sofa…it was a relief but i did morn on the loss of my pretty. with my third bub i decided to say goodbye to my rings as well. as they were quite pointy and she got a little scratch from it…it’s funny how a mum gets ready to give up everything for her kids, and her only jewel is their arms and smiles….and they are the most precious

  • One reason I still don’t wear rings too often with my youngest getting older now is because I wash my hands so often! Would like to wear some jewellery again though.

  • I gave up jewellery too, but you can start wearing it again in a few years.

  • I don’t think I recall wearing any jewellery when the kids were small ( maybe an earring ) and it is best just to put them in the jewellery box high up so it will be hard to reach for the kids . Then take them out to wear when going out . Just a change of habit only .

  • I tossed out my earrings the other week. Lost my bracelet in the garden not long after. Nearly lost my mums wedding ring yesterday. I’m not wearing jewellery again!

  • Jewelry ..indoor plants .. long hair … all gone and replaced by little smiles.

  • I reckon most mums have been in a similar situation.

  • I think many mums can relate!

  • I don’t wear necklaces either now. My children were constantly pulling at them. They would sit on my lap and twirl my wedding ring around my finger.

  • I rarely get to wear my jewelry now either – my daughter loves pulling on my ear rings and chains. I have one strong chain that I wear with a locket that she loves to play with (works really well to calm her down which is why I still wear it).
