Hello!

I would have to say the best thing we have bought since our daughter was borning is a Victorian zoo membership. We get to go to any of the 2 zoos in Victoria as often as we like after paying the annual fee.
we live 20 minutes from healesville sanctuary and often pop up for a few hours and are home in time for our daughter’s nap.
we have had some encounters with animals out on a walk, including this dingo we met yesterday.
I highly recommend this.

  • What an excellent idea! My kids would love that, so would I, just popping off to the zoo for a bit. I’m going to look into right now

  • I won a family zoo membership last year and it has been fantastic. We have visited all 3 Melbourne zoos several times. Each zoo has something different. Healsville has the Tasmanian Tiger and fantastic lunch spots, Melbourne Zoo has the Big Animals such as the lions and giraffes and Werribee zoo has the Safari experience. It is a great healthy outing for the children and you can get a free copy of the Herald-Sun on your way out.

  • That sounds like a great idea alright, and am sure you recoup the initial outlay quickly if you do numerous visits aside from the fact of the sheer enjoyment those outings can entail, thanks for sharing.

  • It’s expensive to buy initially but if you make enough use of it, it’s a good go to day out for when you can’t think of what else to do.. And no additional cost.

  • This would be a great present to give.

  • We had zoo membership when the kids were younger however, when they reached school aged we stopped as we hardly had the time to use it.

  • We get great value from our Taronga Zoo membership too, works out to be such a cheap excursion and the kids never get tired of it as there is always something different to see.

  • Zoos can be a wonderful learning experience and a great way to teach children about animal conservation but only if the zoo is ethical. I don’t support circuses that use exotic animals because I don’t think it’s right from an ethical viewpoint. However, many Australian zoos are really wonderful and do great work for endangered native and foreign species.

    • I totally agree with you regarding circuses.
our Victorian zoos are fantastic, the environmental enrichment for the animals is awesome. I’m really proud of our zoos, they have come such a long way

  • If we lived close to a zoo, I’d do this.

    • Oh! That’s lovely! So close by. Great picture!!

      • Went we lived in front of Perth Zoo, I made the annual membership too. We used to go to the zoo so often. In particular at times when it was generally empty, for example one hour after school or at 9 am on Saturday and Sunday. We had all the zoo for ourselves. I loved it!
You made the best purchase ever! :-)

      • Thank you. We have 3 zoos not 2. 1 is close by the others are not. We also go there at 9 when everyone else is asleep lol

      • Thanks for sharing your lovely photo of your special visit to the zoo.

      • It’s a fantastic membership indeed. I’m sure you’ll make a great use of it. Enjoy!!!
