You know those days, where you have no idea how you are going to fit everything you want to get done into it?

Or those days where all you want to do is nothing? Or those days where you have lots of energy and feel so productive? Or those really great days, where you just want to have them on repeat?

Everyday is a new day, tomorrow is a new day and you have to make the most of it.

There are going to be crap days, good days, great days, fun days, busy days and everything in between. But the main thing is…take it one day at a time.

As a mum, there is ALWAYS something going on, to actually sit down and write this is a win in itself! Getting even 30 mins to sit down and focus is such a treat. But even then, I have been sitting down for 45 mins and just started to write, because I get side tracked….and I am doing it again now…where was I….oh that’s right, taking it one day at a time.

Some days, I have no idea how I fit everything in, but then again it is amazing how much I can fit into other days, and especially between school drop off and pick up.

Some days, I get to the end of the day and I feel like I have done nothing, that I have got nothing done at all. I hate those days; I hate feeling like I haven’t achieved anything at all. But when I stop to think about what I have done, it’s amazing.

I posted this on Facebook the other day

“Up at silly o’clock to train a PT client, back home for kids breaky, school run, power walked to swimming lesson and home again. I have made a truck load of baby food (hope it will last at least a week), coloured, did the washing, played dress ups, prepped dinner, fed & entertained a baby, had lunch…now for the afternoon! More colouring, washing, school pick up, ballet, tap dancing (not me!) and then dinner, bath & bed (for the kids!) and then I will plonk down on the couch and do some work!”

The comments that it got, made me sound busy. Yeah, it was a bit busy, and I guess I did feel productive. But I am sure lots of mums have busier days than me!

I do love it when 7pm comes and the little kids are all tucked up in bed and I can sit down. Some nights I just like to watch TV, not open my computer, and switch off. But at night is really the only time I get to catch up on some work. But then I am knackered as well.

Some days I just wish that I could have just 1 day, uninterrupted where I could just focus on my business and get LOTS of stuff done, be able to plan, be able to set aside time to grow my business, help other mums get fit & healthy.

How can I relate taking it one day at a time to health, fitness and eating well…

It is something that my Fit & Fab Mummy Bootcampers have taught me. Not every day is perfect; lots of things come up at the spur of the moment. Some things you can control and others you can’t. It’s what you do about it and how you handle it, that I think counts the most.

It might be that you have fallen of the healthy eating or exercise bandwagon, that you have been so busy that you haven’t been able to fit in a workout today, or that you went out for a nice dinner last night and had dessert (but you are meant to be on a ‘diet’).

So where is this going? What I want to try and get across is that it is OK to take one day at a time. In fact, it’s one of the best things you can do.

Start each day, thinking of 3 things you are grateful for, do this before you even get out of bed.

I find that writing lists is good, especially on the days I am super busy and have heaps on, lots going through my head. I might make a huge long list, but then chose 3 of the most important and focus on them. If I don’t get the other 10 things done it will be OK I can do them tomorrow.

If you have a bad food day, or don’t get time to exercise, remember those feelings. You eat half a block of chocolate, you feel crap afterwards, so next time you go for the chocolate, remember how eating too much of it last time made you feel. Have 1-2 squares instead.

If you miss a workout, try and be as active as you can. Think about incidental exercise. Move as much as you can. And if you find yourself with a spare 5 mins, do burpees for 4.5 mins and a plank for 30secs. I promise you will feel better for it.

Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes in to us at midnight very clean. It’s perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands, and hopes we’ve learned something from yesterday.  John Wayne – 1907-1979, Actor

  • That’s all we can do, take it one day at a time. The good, the bad, it won’t stop and we just have to remember one day at a time

  • I had a bad day yesterday and I googled positive quotes about bad days and come up with this: One bad day does not make a bad life. I like this quote as it makes you see things in perspective!

  • Starting the day getting up early before the rest of the family certainly helps put me in the right frame of mind for the rest of the day. Some good advice here. I’m looking forward to tomorrow already.

  • I like you simple way of thinking. Stop crowding ourselves with so much we feel smothered. One day at a time.

  • Back from cruise holiday yesterday, loads of washing to do, pantry to fill, back to work today, and still 2 weeks of holidays left…. I’m just making lists and working through it as I can. No pressure, just do the best I can.

  • I own a Gratitude Diary which I write in daily and makes me feel happy. It is important to take time out when you can also.

  • This is soooo timely. I have just been thinking about how I can make the most of my time, I feel that at times I am going backwards to forwards and want that feeling to change, I want to feel more positive towards my life. I think I will take the opportunity each morning to do as you suggest and think about three things to be grateful for, then I might feel more inclined to don the sneakers and sweats and head out the door before reaching for the the coffee. I’ll leave breakfast up to hubby, I am sure he can cope with cereal and toast :)
