A teenager has died, one person has lost a limb and others have suffered head injuries after a bus rolled on Queensland’s Whitsunday Coast yesterday afternoon.
The bus left the road and overturned at Cannon Valley, near Airlie Beach around 1pm yesterday afternoon. The 19-year-old died in Proserpine Hospital just hours after the incident occurred.
Ten others were badly injured, including three who remain in a critical condition.
Speaking with The Australian newspaper, The Queensland Ambulance Service’s Danny Murphy said:
“We’ve had one patient had an arm amputated and the other patient had to have the skin pulled off of their arm,” he said.
One woman was pinned under the bus while several sustained fractures and abrasions. The passengers injured ranged in age from as young as six months and as old as 79.
No cause has been found as to why the incident occurred. 13 people were on board the bus when it rolled and ended up on its side off the edge of the Shute Harbour Road.

“The Queensland Police Service are investigating what the cause of the situation was.”
