The Melbourne teenager dubbed “Egg Boy” has been released by police without charges over egging incident with Senator Fraser Anning.

The 17-year-old was whacked in the face by Senator Anning and taken to the ground after he slapped an egg on the independent’s head on Saturday.

Will Connolly’s action came after the ultra-conservative Queensland senator said Muslim immigration contributed to the 50 deaths in the Christchurch massacres.

Police confirmed the teen had been interviewed and released yesterday afternoon, pending further investigation, reports 9 news.

When asked if it appeared Victoria Police would lay charges against Will, his lawyer Peter Gordon said he had received “no indication” that would happen.

“But obviously police have got a job to do,” he said.

“To use Will’s own words, the police have been awesome.”

Mr Gordon also confirmed his client would not pursue legal action against the Senator or his supporters who put him in a headlock.

The teen will also donate the money from an online crowdfunding campaign to the victims of the Christchurch mosque shooting.

Do you think he should be facing punishment?

  • Yes, he absolutely should’ve been charged with assault. It IS assault no matter what anyone says. It should be a zero policy on this.

  • He should have been charged with assault, thousands of witnesses. Regardless of whether we agree or disagree with this senator’s words, he was assaulted and I would have done the exact same thing. This kid is almost a legal adult and that should have reflected in the punishment

  • This whole thing makes me angry. If someone hit me in the head with an egg you can guarantee I would punch them in the face as my initial reaction. To act like this attention seeking moronic thug is a hero is just pathetic. If he doesn’t like what a politician has to say, maybe he can use his big boy words or do something to make a real difference instead of sneaking up behind someone and assaulting them.

  • Probably an agreement not to pursue charges against each other. Glad the money is going to a good cause.

  • Personally I think what the senator said is offensive when he said Muslim immigration contributed to the 50 deaths in the Christchurch massacres ! He’s an adult. Not strange that a teenager responds in protest to this. Then the senator whacks him in the face ?! Will shouldn’t have done what he did, but the senator certainly shouldn’t have done what he did.

  • Poor results for disgraceful actions shows him he can get away with it

  • He doesn’t need to be charged but some sort of punishment would be acceptable.

  • I don’t think smashing an egg on someone’s head is really the appropriate way to protest. I don’t blame faiser anning for giving him a slap, id do the same in self defence if I had something smashed on my head from behind. The people who took the kid down were heavy handed BUT how were they to know what the kid was planning. Could of had a knife or even put acid on the senator.

  • Although not ideal, his protest would not have caused Anning serious harm. Anning and his supporters over reacted and could have caused him serious harm. I think they should all be charged, but the boy’s penalty should be much less. And good on him for donating the money.

  • Going away free of charge seems a little bit like a joke to me.

  • I really love this kid. He shouldn’t have egged the Senator. But I still love him. It takes a lot of guts to stand up to nasty bullies who spew hate everywhere they go. I also love the dude at the airport who followed Anning around yelling at him. Anning needs to be deported to Manis Island and we’ll swap him for a refugee who will actually contribute something useful to our country.

  • He should have done that but donating the money is a wonderful gesture.

  • He’s an idiot! Shouldn’t there be some sort of assault charges? It really is ridiculous of people to blame this person or that person for the Christchurch shooting when the ONLY person to blame is the person who did it! Blaming senator Anning or Pauline Hanson or Chelsea Clinton for it is a bit like blaming a rape victim for wearing revealing clothes!!!
God’s for him for donating his go fund me money :)

    • His money or are his parents donating it?? I hope his parents reprimand him.
