We asked YOU on Facebook what your favourite playgrounds in Adelaide are, and thanks to some brilliant local knowledge here is a list of Adelaide playgrounds you MUST visit!

1. The Glover Playground (AKA ‘Helicopter Park’)

Address: 61-63 La Fevre Terrace, North Adelaide SA 5006

You might know this park by it’s alternate name ‘helicopter park’, and it’s called that for good reason – there is a brilliant helicopter with a slide attached featured right in the centre of the park. Kids can ‘drive the car’, ride bouncy see-saws, climb, spin, slide, run, jump and dig. It has a PERFECT sized slide for toddlers, big open spaces for picnics and toilet facilities.

2. Bonython Park

Address: Port Road, Adelaide SA 5000

Take a spade and bucket and let the kids dig for bones in the sandpit, they will have a double use at the water play station! Grab a coffee or tea from the kiosk nearby and set yourself down on a nice picnic rug to unwind whilst the kids have the time of their life! They can play on the hamster wheel, climb up the spider net, take turns on the double flying fox, discover the wooden worms, or even watch the ducks in the pond. There is another section with lots of play equipment which would work for the younger kids who want to climb, jump, slide and run. This park is mighty busy so get there early to secure a nice spot for your family day out!

3. Jubilee Park

Address: Saltfleet St, Port Noarlunga SA 5167

This is a MUST VISIT park. The kids will be delighted by the wooden castle structure, they can run up and down and find hidden spaces, slide their way out and even play music along the way AND the playground is fully fenced ensuring parents peace of mind! You can go from the wooden castle to a more modern playground but beware, this playground doesn’t have a fence! It’s a perfect space to take a picnic and get together with friends and family – make sure you take the kids to see this one, you won’t be disappointed!

4. Tusmore Park

Address: Stirling Street, Tusmore SA 5065

On a hot day there is no place better to take the little ones than the Tusmore Park paddling pool, it has shade coverings so a perfect place for the little ones to cool down. Those with bigger kids can take them over to the creek that runs alongside the park – a great place to explore! There is lots of open space for the kids to run around in and also an area with play equipment to suit different ages including a spider climbing web, slides, swings and a sandpit.

5. Princess Elizabeth Playground

Address: South Terrace, Adelaide SA 5000

This is a great playground for kids of all ages (even the adults will love it).  It boasts swings, slides and see-saws though one of the best parts of this park are the little trampolines that have been built into the ground – lots of fun to be had! There is a spider web climbing net, monkey bars, and very fittingly to the name of this park a castle with slides attached. Parents can sit down on one of the many benches around and relax whilst the kids have a brilliant time. Take a picnic for a great day out.

6. Dunstan Adventure Playground

Address: Winchester Street, St Peters SA 5069

Adventure by name, adventure by nature, this park certainly is adventurous! This is one for the older kids. There is a wonderfully long slide, monkey bars, flying fox, swings and a (scarily) high suspension bridge. Take a picnic lunch and the older kids to this park – it’s lots of fun!

7. Goldenfields Reserve

Address: 250 The Golden Way Golden Grove SA 5125

Goldenfields Reserve has something for kids of all ages – from a flying fox to shaded play equipment it certainly has you covered. Take a ball and kick it around on the large grassed area or have your toddler climb all over the equipment that is lower to the ground. There is a climbing spider web along with climbing cubes. The older kids can play on the basketball court or take their skateboard or bike to the skate park and ride around to their hearts content. This is a perfect park for a picnic or simply a morning play!

8. Hart’s Mill Playground

Address: Mundy Street, Port Adelaide SA 5015

This is one of the brightest playgrounds you will ever visit with it’s vibrant yellow play equipment and the focal point being the triangular ‘Dalben Tower’ where kids can climb up and slide on down. This park plays host to a hamster wheel (yes, one for the kids to run on!) a flying fox, swings, climbers, a sandpit and more. The playground is fenced and just outside is the Harbour Loop Path if you want to take the kids for a walk/bike ride/scoot. Bring a picnic and set yourself up for a beautiful day out – you may even spot a dolphin in the adjacent Port River!
