We asked YOU on Facebook what your favourite playgrounds in Brisbane are, and thanks to some brilliant local knowledge here is a list of Brisbane playgrounds you HAVE to visit!

1. Whale Park at Wynnum Foreshore

Address: Wynnum Esplanade (at the end of Edith Street), Wynnum QLD 4178

Take a picnic and LOTS of sunscreen for a splashy fun filled day of play with water. Young kids will LOVE this park with play equipment that slides you straight into the water! Top off a perfect day with fish ‘n chips and an ice-cream on the jetty!

2. Calamvale District Park

Address: Formby Street, Calamvale QLD 4116

Brilliant for older kids with LOTS of play equipment for them, though still great for the younger ones too with lots of fun things to do including a xylophone, cogwheels and a curvy mirror, a group net swing and suspension bridges. Take a picnic for a fun day out!

3. Moora Park, Shorncliffe

Address: Swan Street, Shorncliffe QLD 4017 

Both kids and adults will LOVE this park with something for everyone. Sit on the picnic tables and chairs and take in the ocean views or wander on down to the play equipment which has everything for the little explorer – from huts to slides to swings and sandpits, your family will love a day out here PLUS it’s wonderful close to a small beach where you can go for a quick dip to cool down.

4. Rocks Riverside Park

Address: Counihan Road, Seventeen Mile Rocks QLD 4073

This park has something for everyone – with approximately 8,000m2 of open grassed space​ it covers everything from a half basketball court to toddler water play areas (under shade sails) PLUS much more – bike paths, play equipment, flying fox, BBQs, community garden, slides, a sandpit and of course the essential kiosk that serves coffee. All overlooking the beautiful Brisbane River.

5. Frew Park in Milton

Address: Frew Street, Milton QLD 4064

With everything from tennis courts to exercise equipment to a futuristic playground to a ping pong table, Frew Park has all ages covered. For those in need of a caffine hit there is a cafe that overlooks the playground or take a picnic and set yourself up at one of the gorgeous white picnic tables and let the kids run around in some fresh air. There is limited free parking so get there early!

6. Picnic Island Playground at Southbank Parklands

Address: Stanley Street Plaza, South Brisbane QLD 4101 

With lots of shade and beautiful fig trees, Picnic Island playground is one not to be missed. There is a sandpit, slides, climbers, spinners and lots of open space to kick a ball around in. To add to the magic of this one there is even a scenic pond filled with lots of colourful fish to capture the littlies attention! Be sure to bring some snags to cook up on the BBQs available and make it a family fun day out.

7. Darlington Park, Yarrabilba

Address: Darlington Drive, Yarrabilba QLD 4207

If the flying fox, bike tracks, BBQs, exercise equipment, music wall, slides or sandpit don’t grab your attention then the ultimate FREE water park might. This park is ideal to cool down on a hot day and perfect for those little one who want to splash around. It is a MUST SEE park to add to your list for Brisbane and one that won’t disappoint. Get there early on a hot day to make the most of it all!

8. Whites Hill Reserve

Address: Boundary Road, Camp Hill QLD 4152

This is a beautiful peaceful park with lots to discover! It hosts a flying fox, climbers, slides, raised pathways for disabled access to the equipment, swings, electric BBQs and you can even choose a path that will take you on a bush-walk up to Whites Hill summit that gives you a brilliant view of the city.  The water and sand play facilities are favourites at this park and it’s always nice to take along a picnic rug and soak up your surroundings. For a family fun day out with something for everyone Whites Hill Reserve has you covered!

9. Dalkeith Park in Wooloowin

Address: Corner of Rose Street and Kent Road Wooloowin QLD 4030

Grab a coffee from across the road and head on over to the snake sculptures where kids are encouraged to take turns running along the different coloured snakes to see where they end up. The park is fully fenced and a great place to visit for a quick play!

10. Berrinba Wetlands

Address: Wayne Goss Drive, Browns Plains QLD 4118 

This park is GREAT for animal spotting, take your animal loving kids along to see if you can spot any of the birds, possums or gliders that live in the nesting boxes that have been placed throughout the wetlands. With 8.5kms of walkways and bike tracks set over 80 hectares of land the family will enjoy a day out at Berrinba Wetlands exploring the beautiful surrounds. It’s right on the water and has a playground and picnic facilities, but the best part of this park is that you are surrounded by nature!

11. Brisbane Botanic Gardens

Address: Mt Coot-tha Road, Toowong QLD 4066

A great place to visit in the heart of the CBD where you won’t believe you are actually in the heart of the CBD! The playground boasts a musical section, a sandpit, bike tracks, walking paths, slides and swings AND you can catch up on your emails (or the latest from Mouths of Mums) whilst the kids are happily playing with the FREE WI-FI available.

12. New Farm Park

Address: Brunswick Street, New Farm QLD 4005

Visitors to New Farm Park come from far and wide to spend the day in the beautifully shaded surrounds. The park is set across 15 hectares, hosts a farmers market every second Saturday and is known for being an ‘active and healthy’ park. The playground is amazing with everything from a giant spider web to climb on, to a dragon themed section complete with dragons and dragons eggs! Grab yourself a coffee or tea from the mobile cafe and let the kids walk through the ‘treetops’. Or, if you’re heading to a live show at the Power House put together a picnic and enjoy it in the park before going in!

13. Teralba Park in Everton Park

Address: 120 Pullen Road, Everton Park QLD 4053

This park is designed for imaginative play, your kids will LOVE playing ‘shop’ or digging for treasure in the sandpit. There are lot of pieces of equipment to climb on, slide down, balance on and move around – you can set yourself up in a nice shaded area and let the kids have a blast! If you want to grab a picnic table best to get there as early as you can – they go pretty quickly!

14. Hidden World Playground, Fitzgibbon

Address: Roghan Road, Fitzgibbon QLD 4018

Take a spade and bucket when you visit Hidden World Playground as there is LOTS of sand to play in AND bring your bike or scooter as the track that surrounds is the perfect place to practice riding or scooting! The kids can run, climb, swing, skip, slide and jump on the multitude of equipment – take a picnic for a great family day out!

  • after a recent trip to Qld I found a few parks but not in Brisbane. Cairns has an awesome foreshore park complete with a man made pool a little kids playground a bigger kids playground and of course the most awesome skate park for all ages definitely a winner for us

  • This is a great list! My child might be a bit too young for some of these but we’ll make the effort and try them out. Brisbane has some amazing parks for kids now!
