An image of two children walking hand in hand at the hospital that’s circulating social media is leaving users divided over whether it’s cute — or sexist.

The photo in question show what appears to be a little boy and a little girl walking together down a hospital hallway wearing similar colorful scrubs.

But while the blonde ponytailed little girl’s scrubs are pink and say ‘Nurse in Training’ on the back, the little boy’s are green and read ‘Doctor in Training.’

The picture was shared on Twitter by @TheMedicalShots and quickly went viral.

The image shows a little boy and a little girl holding hands at the hospital, shares Daily Mail.

‘This is cute, isn’t it?’ the account tweeted, adding a heart eyes emoji.

The tweet has been ‏liked over 20,000 times, but the comments were not so appreciative.

In fact, thousands of people claimed the image isn’t cute at all — it’s sexist.

‘No it’s not. Why isn’t she a Dr as well? Or why is the boy not a nurse?’ asked one.

‘The children are cute. The sexism on their backs is NOT,’ tweeted a woman named Deirdre Marie-Iha.

‘How did you tweet this from the year 1950?’ asked Jill Tatara.

‘It’s actually sexist as f*** and an inaccurate representation since, as of 2017, there are more women in medical school than men,’ added user @NotGeauxGabby.

‘To everyone saying “iTs NoT tHaT sErIoUS, tHeYrE jUsT kIdS.” WE KNOW! It’s not about the kids,’ wrote Cierra Williams.

‘It’s about the thought process behind the picture. It’s about people still feeling like when you see a man in scrubs & a woman in scrubs, y’all automatically assume he’s the doctor.’

Do you think it’s sexist?

  • You know what?…everyone just needs to get a grip. When I was a kid I wanted to be a nurse and that was not because I didnt think that I couldnt be a Doctor because I was a girl it was because I didnt want to be a Doctor. I decided that I couldnt be a nurse because I hated blood and needles so I decided I would be a lawyer because i thought it would be fun to be able to argue with people all day and get paid for it (haha) THen I found that you had to go to Uni to become a lawyer so that was the end of that. My choices had nothing to do with me being female. Give our children more credit and stop forcing girls to do what they dont want to do just because it proves what a brilliant job of parenting you have done….it doesnt. Let them choose for themselves.

  • Let kids be kids and dress however they want without overlaying adult issues on them!

  • How does anyone know the children didn’t pick them because they liked the colours and didn’t care about the writing. It is cute and I don’t read sexism into it at their age

    • Exactly you would need more information to comment on it.

  • maybe they were asked which they would like to wear, so many people bitching about this drives me insane, maybe the sizing was right for these kids who know, just whinge whinge whinge

  • I think it looks cute. It’s sexism gone mad that people complain about this.

  • I think it’s sweet but really not matter what people dress their kids in name them or what ever there are always going to those that think they are better than everyone else and not pick

  • Well I can just imagine the outrage if the little boy had “A nurse in training” on his back – couldn’t he make it as a doctor, isn’t he smart enough, do you think he is gay, etc. etc.
These days it’s just better not to put anything on Facebook or Instagram or anything else.
