Mums share the items they would never buy from Aldi and you may be surprised.

We are not huge fans of the fruit from Aldi at times. Much prefer to grab from our local small grocer or the fruit market.

It appears we are not alone!

Mums shared the products they refuse to buy

It seems many people actually are not huge fans of Aldi meat, bread, milk, dairy and especially the fresh produce like fruit & veg.

One mum shared, ” Their meat. I am just never happy with that so I buy it from the butcher. I also don’t buy their prepackaged fruit/veg I think it’s a lot of wasted plastic.”

Another said, “Fruit and veg is not great at ours.”

Another wrote, “Their meat tastes like crap!”

Yet another said, “Their meat, fruit and veg is a no from me.”

“Frozen foods from China (or NZ (who import from China and then repackage)”

Even bread was a NO for some people, “Normal bread always get mouldy really quickly but the special breads are fine.”

Another said the bread was always stale.

And another shared, “Bread for sandwiches. Don’t mind there sour dough for toast. All the rest is horrid.”

Someone also mentioned the cheese even!

Julie agreed, “creams, milk, yoghurts can’t stand he flavour, their bread I personally like mine soft there’s feels hard and stale like.”

  • No Aldi close enough to me to do a weekly shop but if I am ever near one I do like to pop in for a look to see what they may have.

  • Yeah I have to say that I’m not a fan of the fresh produce or bread. But everything else I actually prefer.

  • I don’t buy any food from Aldi ( I prefer to buy from SA owned Foodland .. keep it local). But they have good homewares and garden things

  • I know a lady who has Coelic Disease. She reckons it is the best Gluten Free Bread and is also a little cheaper than other supermarkets. What she bought was actually soft – not hard like other brands are. Gluten Free Bread is expensive – considerably smaller loaves at much higher prices than other bread……At all supermarkets we try the “generic” brand products that we eat a fair amount of. We buy one to try and if we don’t like it we don’t buy that brand again. What most people don’t realise is that “generic” brand products are made by big name companies and put in different cheaper packaging/ labels. Often it is the end of the run of the product on the production line. There may be a slightly different ratio of ingredients in some products. Some companies do quality control on “generic” labelled products the same as the do for their products packed with their own logos etc.

  • I think some of the produce and be hit and miss but I find it to be good in most instances. They have certainly gotten better over the years.

  • We don’t have an Aldi shop within 600km so can’t really say. I don’t really care about Aldi anyway because it’s not Australian owned.

  • I am happy overall with Aldis.
Their whole eye fillet steak is fantastic as is their porterhouse and sausage.
Their prices are definitely better than woolies or coles.
Their $5 tubs of hummus are tasty and great value also.

  • Any of their homewares. Have bought multiple things like bowls, pillows, clothesline that broke very quickly.
Some of their other products are going downhill like lasagne as a random example, not as nice as it used to be, they are cutting corners

  • Our Aldi is at the front of the shopping centre, their fruit and veg seem fine. Infact my daughter would only eat their blueberries when she was young. I think because they are at the front, and are a little cheaper than Woolies, they seem to sell more and therefore have a quicker turnover. Woolies fruit and veg, at our centre, is not the best. I don’t shop much at Aldi though. Would mostly shop their for their sale items (variety) or if I needed a quick top up of fruit for my daughter.

  • When aldi first opened their quality was much better. I stopped shopping at ALDI years ago because the quality just isn’t there regardless of the price.

  • I agree with the fruit and vege. It can be very hit and miss.

  • Have never had a problem.with Aldi meat, their sausages in particular are quite nice, better than my local butcher and much nicer than woolies or coles brands. Please note there are two sides, try it for yourself.

The only thing I won’t buy from Aldi is the Tandil green washing liquid (it looks like palmolive brand), I found no matter how much you rinse your cups and glasses out, you can taste soap

  • I don’t shop there for produce but each to their own.

  • We used to buy meat from them but we’ve had one too many occasions where we’ve opened the packet of meat and been met by a putrid, decaying smell – it’s turned me off their meat for good now. I also don’t like their bread so I just shop at Woolies for everything now rather than buying some stuff at Aldi and some at Woolies. I only go in if there’s anything from their special buys that I want but even that is very rarely.

    • That’s awful I wouldn’t be buying it again after that either.
