One NSW school has banned parents from delivering fast food lunches to their kids.

Canley Vale public high school in Sydney’s south west has sent a note home to parents telling them it is no longer acceptable to deliver McDonald’s & KFC for their kid’s lunches!

It totally defeats the healthy lunch policies schools are trying to enforce.

Uber eats has even been asked not to deliver food to children at school.

In another story “Concierge parenting” is getting totally out of hand

Some parents are going so far as to contacting school to take their child’s place in detention.

While others are paying tutors to have their child’s exams re-marked. One school principal is claiming this extreme parenting trend known as ‘concierge parenting’ is drastically on the rise!

“I think some parents are more anxious about managing their children for ongoing success than they are about ongoing learning,” he said. “The notion that ‘my child must always succeed’ is profoundly dangerous.”

It creates students that are too fragile to accept feedback. “They can’t cope when a teacher says, ‘you need more reasoning here’, or ‘this is unclear’.”

Amid growing concerns about the long-term impact of parental intervention, schools are beginning to act. Last year one School ruled that forgotten items delivered to school by parents would stay in reception until the end of the day.

Do we do TOO MUCH for our children?

  • That’s awful! Living rurally, we don’t have the option of fast food deliveries and I doubt I would’ve done it if it was available. We have a school bus run, yet some parents still choose to drive their kids to school, rather then let them walk 10 mins to the bus stop! What they don’t seem to understand is by doing this, it could potentially finish the school bus run. If there isn’t enough kids using the bus, there will no longer be a bus!

  • Wow his is the first I’ve heard of Uber’s to kids schools

  • I’ve never heard of anything more ridiculous. Who brings takeaway to their kids or allows uber eats. Takeaway is a treat not a daily occurrence

  • I didn’t even know parents did this. How ridiculous.

  • Hmmm in my opinion this isnt something that is doing the kids any favors! These parents need to have a think about what they are doing and try to make sure the kids are eating healthier

  • Surely it would be easier to just pack them lunch. And people wonder why so many kids are obese these days!

  • Why would anyone think this is ok?! Far out.

  • Parents shouldn’t be delivering fast food to kids at school.

  • Seriously! This has to be a joke – parents don’t really do this?

    • They sure do, I’ve heard some parents of primary aged kids have done it to.

      • Well…I am stunned! I do not understand why parents would do this? Seems expensive, not the best use of time and also the nutritional value is questionable. Surely it goes against food policies at school? So many questions and still I am stunned!

  • I might take a really vital forgotten item to school. But fast food lunches, detention etc? Forget it.

  • Good! Admin staff don’t have time to be delivering fast food lunches to kids or calling them out of class. Since when do kids get hot chips delivered to them for lunch??

  • Shouldn’t be allowed at all. I think it’s unhealthy having take away food given to a kid for school lunch and there are plenty of healthy and delicious options that can easily be put in a lunch pack. My kids high school banned the kids from ordering and having take away food delivered to school. I couldn’t believe a kid could even do this, but I guess if a parent gave them a credit card and they have a phone anything is possible. As for the other stuff, if a parent is wanting their child to never do detention they will be raising a spoilt brat that will never learn the consequences of their actions.

  • I didn’t even know it was possible to have food for your kids delivered to school!
I can’t believe what I am reading about detention… Kids need to take charge of themselves.

  • A good old home made sandwich is far healthier than fast food!

  • Fast food delivered to school ? doing their homework ? paying for tutor’s to have their exams re-marked ? sitting their detention out ?
Sounds unhealthy to me, kids need to learn to carry their own responsibility so one day they will become independent.
