The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed their second child into the world on Saturday!

The little princess arrived at St. Mary’s Hospital in London, weighing 8lb 3oz, and made her first public appearance before she was a day old.

And now after much anticipation her parents have settled on a name, with Kensington Palace making the announcement on social media last night, posting:

Princess Charlotte’s middle names are a fitting tribute to her family members, most notably William’s late mother Diana.

The name Elizabeth is not only the name of her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth, as well as her great, great grandmother the late Queen Mother, but it is also her mother Catherine’s middle name, along with her maternal grandmother Carol Middleton’s.

The fourth-in-line’s arrival marks a new period for the Cambridge’s, who will be moving from Kensington Palace to their country home Amner Hall, with Prince William expected to take up a new post as a helicopter ambulance pilot in a few short weeks.

  • Such a pretty name for the beautiful princess. Both my kids were named after they were born, sometime you just look at the baby and the name just fall in your head.

  • Beautiful name,I am so glad they chose to have Diana in there somewhere too! We had already chosen the names before our three were born. I was right on the sex of our babies all three times too!

  • We had already decided on a boy and girl’s name before our son arrived. There was a bit of to and froing as other people used the names before us. It took a little while for us to agree on a name, but it wasn’t too difficult. I just love the Princess’ name, it is just beautiful and quite fitting.
