Hello!

If you’re addicted to hummus, like me, you’ll be celebrating to hear that there’s a dedicated hummus bar in town.

The name is direct and to-the-point – you certainly won’t get confused what Simply Hummus Bar is serving.

The bar celebrates everything about the humble chickpea dip, with hummus being the star ingredient on the menu of this Sydney newcomer.

The Hummus Bar was originally a stand at the Entertainment Quarter market and has now expanded into a proper cafe, based in Darlinghurst.

Don’t be misled into believing that you’ll find weird and offbeat hummus flavours and colours here. Owner Yoash Dvir, has kept it simple and focused on perfecting one kind of hummus, which took a year for him to get right.

Simple & Delicious

The hummus is thick and chunky (just how we like it) but Dvir has confirmed his plans to create a smoother version as well.

“Naturally, we use chickpeas, tahini, lemon, garlic, olive oil and spices, but it’s about the quantities and the texture,” he said in a Delicious report.

We love that the hummus is preservative-free and made from dried chickpeas – not canned, and blended fresh on site each day.

You can accompany your hummus with all sorts of yummy additions – such as falafel, tabbouleh, sautéed mushrooms, onions or Israeli salad. Each meal also comes with a warm home-made pita.

If you’re a true hummus fan, you’ll love the all-you-can-eat option, which includes unlimited toppings for $23 per person.

Plus you can also take a tub or two of dip to take away.

You’ll find Simply Hummus Bar at 393 Liverpool St, Darlinghurst.

  • As much as I love hummus, especially home made, I’m not sure how successful a purely hummus restaurant will be. Good luck to him tho, if he ever opens one in hobart, I’ll be checking it out
