“My baby hates being wrapped. Can I skip the Wrap?” WRONG. No baby hates being wrapped, according to this baby guru anyway…

Tizzie Hall The International Baby Whisperer and bestselling author of Save Our Sleep, is telling parents that no baby hates being wrapped.

Tizzie Hall says, “A baby who is warm, well-fed and not overtired does not hate being wrapped. Babies actually really love it. If your baby is showing resistance to being wrapped it will be because of another reason.”

I would encourage you to look for what the problem might be. I have really only found that overtired babies resist being wrapped.

Tizzie also recommends, “To know when to stop wrapping your baby you need to look for signs that your baby is able to roll while wrapped.

This can be as late as 10 months. You are not looking for when your baby is just able to roll. He may be able to roll freely while he is awake, but show no signs of being able to roll when wrapped and placed in bed.

Only when your baby shows signs of being able to roll while he is wrapped, normally around 8 to 10 months, do you need to stop wrapping them.

When your baby is no longer swaddled for sleep I recommend you use a long sleeved bodysuit.”

HA!  I find this statement a bit too generic. I had one son that hated being wrapped and one that loved it. No two babies are the same. How boring would that be?!

  • All my kids loved being wrapped as babies but once they got to 3-4months they didnt want to be wrapped. I now have a 19 month who refuses to have a blanket or sheet on him. He hates it.

  • I have 2 nephews and niether like their arms being wrapped in, even as newborns. One in particular would wriggle around trying. to move her arms until he exhausted himself and fell asleep. Even before he was taken home the decision made to wrap her with arms loose so she could get them free if she wanted to. In fact in his very first baby photos he has his hands up beside his head. Back then the routine was Mum and Baby stayed in hospital for 4 or 5 days

  • This is ridiculous statement. I have 3 boys and only 1 didn’t like being wrapped..

  • Yeah not a big fan of Tizzie’s advice & methods. My first two (boys) absolutely loved being wrapped. They were both winter babies. My third (a girl), a summer baby, absolutely hated it. Maybe the 30+ degree heat was the “other reason”?? I persevered for a little with super light wraps, but she just wiggled & thrashed until she was free, then went off to sleep, sprawled in her cradle.
There’s never a once size fits all with babies, including wrapping.

  • Hmm, Tizzie gives some dangerous advice, I wouldn’t listen to her. I wrapped my babies sometimes though.

  • I don’t know. I actually never wrapped my baby. Does everybody really do that?
