Laura Mazza from Mum on the Run, shares exactly what a real mother is….

Laura shared her wise words on Facebook:

“A real mother does whatever it takes to bring her baby into this world.
A real mother experiences good days and bad days.
A real mother breastfeeds and formula feeds.
A real mother sends her kids to school and home schools.
A real mother is an adoptive mother.
A mother who used IVF.
A step mother.
A real mother faces challenges.
Struggles some days and wins the next.
A real mother works.
A real mother stays at home.

A mother should never feel guilty for her choices, her life, the way her baby was born or made or for the days that aren’t so good. There is no greater mother to her children than she.

There is no standard to what a “mother” is. A mother is a woman who grows up her child and loves and nurtures her child, and does her damn best every day.

That’s a real mother.”

  • I would add that sometimes mums are no longer with us and other ‘mums’ step in to fill the void.

  • “What a real mother is like” suggest there are unreal mothers too ?
I would prefer to say “What it’s like to be a mum”.
And what it’s like to be a mum is probably different for all of us.

    • And of course there are mums who do fail….thinking about mums who abuse or neglect, who’re addicted or just make wrong decisions.
Some mums are truly not capable to love and nurture unconditionally.

  • A real mother loses sleep worrying about a child for their whole life.
