Eden’s baby girl suffers with allergies. She shared this image to show the raw desperation of parenting.

Eden shared on Facebook, “This is what parenting looks like…”
3.30am sessions in the shower because she reacted to an allergen and screamed all night. It looks like love and devotion, and exhaustion and relief. It looks like stretch marks, and prickly legs, and raw desperation. There is beauty here… The beauty of silence… The hot water and skin to skin won. I needed it to win; I was out of options.

I needed this photo. I needed to freeze this moment so that I can look back and remember the vulnerability and art that is parenting. The delicate balance between genius, and insanity. #love

Her post has been shared nearly 10K times in less than 24hrs.

The Barefoot Mum also shared a similar image of mum and bub “Such a raw emotive moment of Motherhood in all her glory……messy bun and all!!”

Sadly though, Facebook deleted a similar image previously of a dad showering with his son who had been very unwell, siting it as violating photograph rules. Read the story here.

  • Raising children is certainly not all plain sailing and sometimes those rough waters are faced day after day after day. Yet we love these little beings so very much and given a choice most of us would do it all over again if we had to.

  • i was both sad and heartwarming to read this article but very glad i need. I hope lots of young mums also see it snd reslise they are not alone by far in thesesituations of anquishand dispair and also caring and compassion. Maybe there should be some form of movie for young women to see and understand especially if a single mum having to cope alone. This is educational and uniting for far greater understanding and compassion.Well done girls proud of you. I was a youth worker for many years and had a lot of single mums who unfortunatly did not have Mums who could help or mother them as children. So how to information is important as babies do take a lot of care especially when ill and mum is tired, Thank you

  • This is such a powerful image. As parents, we do what we have to, to help our baby/child. We don’t always photograph it as we’re often in the moment. But this is powerful nonetheless.

  • I remember I had to do something simular to this but not sitting down, my daughter had croup and the doctors kept saying that there was nothing wrong with her if she was feeding well….after going to the 3rd doctor, it did turn out that she did have croup. we had a warm shower to settle my daughter down and let the steam work its way.

  • Raw and powerful images. Captures those moments when your absolutely at the depths of despair and wanting your sick child to be better. Nothing worse than a child who is sick and distressed and nothing you do makes it better.

  • I feel for parents who need to go to this extent to settle their baby – or driving around or walking the street in the middle of the night. I’ve been very blessed and lucky so far
