Mum arrested after her young daughter drowned in a bath while she had sex in another room.

Amanda Ann Clark, 26, from Texas, left her three daughters, ages 6, 3 and 23 months, alone in a filled bathtub while she had sex with a man in her bedroom on October 23, an arrest warrant claimed.

Ms Clark told investigators that she was spending time with “a male companion,” but the man said that he had come over for a “booty call” and that while he was waiting for her in the bedroom, she was gathering the children, authorities said.

While their mother and the man were in her bedroom with the door closed, the three-year-old girl innocently pushed her little sister, Alexandria, underwater and she drowned, the six-year-old told police, reports 7 news.

The six-year-old child went into the bedroom to tell her mother that Alexandria, who would have turned two years old Friday, had stopped breathing, the affidavit said.

Ms Clark frantically tried to save her daughter, performing CPR and calling for help.

“She was screaming, hollering, ‘Help me. Help me.’ She loved those kids,” Jodi Malott, who lives across the street from the family, told News 8.

Ms Clark turned herself in to authorities on Tuesday and was being held at the Wise County Jail on $100,000 bond.

She has been charged with abandoning or endangering a child, a second-degree felony.

The man claimed he didn’t know the children were put into the tub and has not been charged with a crime, Fox news reported.

Ms Clark’s two other daughters were taken into custody by Child Protective Services, according to reports.

  • Why couldn’t she have put the children to bed or in front of the tv. If you love your children that much you’d want to make sure they were as safe as possible while you were out of the room. Was sex more important than her children?

  • I’m sorry but if you really loved your kids to the full meaning of the word you wouldn’t be having a ‘booty call’. When you truly love your children, or anyone for that matter, it means putting their needs before your own and in the case of children it means doing the responsible thing. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t have a life, but for goodness sake, get a babysitter and think about the example that you are setting! Unfortunate things like this should not happen. That little girl did not need to have her life cut short and her sisters did not need this experience to haunt them for the rest of their lives.

  • Oh my God. This is terrible, sad, so many kinds of wrong. That poor young child, and her poor siblings who will live with what has happened, forever. I am so sick of reading stories EVERY DAY about irresponsible parenting and children dying in absolutely preventable ways. ENOUGH.

  • Aw how terribly sad !!
Just thinking about the six year old who saw it all before her own eyes ! Hope and pray the 3 year old won’t remember / be hunted by what she innocently did to her sister.
What irresponsible behaviour from the mum ! The death of her child will probably be a heavy punishment already !

  • What on earth- any parent of young children knows that you can not leave them alone together – let alone in the bath!

  • Such a terrible tragedy. I hate to think how the 6 year old will cope throughout life when she fully understands what happened. The mother should’ve been there to stop her, surely she could’ve waited until they were out of the bath. R.I.P. dear one. :(

  • Can’t believe a mother would leave children alone in a bath for any reason – just criminal and unthinking .

  • Disgusting, parents who are so selfish and just think about themselves. I hope she is charged with negligence!

  • You don’t leave children that young alone in a bath. We don’t leave or 4 1/2 year old in the bath alone. You also never have a door shut that you can’t hear your children at all. If it inconveniences you, so be it !!!
