Trend alert: top colours for 2014.

Colours allow you to be creative with your outfits, and help you add personality to your style.

This year, bright colours and gorgeous pastels will be on show throughout the seasons, so don’t be afraid to go bright.

Here are our top 6 colour trends for 2014.

2014 colour mood board

1.    Radiant orchid
Blooming with confidence, it’s the 2014 Pantone colour of the year… need we say more? Charming and expressive, add a touch of this purple hue if you’re feeling imaginative. A great colour for a manicure, all year round.

2.    Fun fuchsia
Fuchsia boasts sass and personality. Bring fun into your day with a pop of pink, and let it stand out on a neutral or black and white outfit. Choose a fuchsia scarf or team a top with a pair of boyfriend jeans for the perfect summer get-up.

3.    Placid blue
Not bold royal blue, but a lighter pale hue. Placid blue pours peace and calm in your outfit. Wear it casually down to the shops or dress it up for a night on the town. Add a bright pop of yellow or chunky silver jewellery for a more glamorous guise.

4.    Orange
Add a vibrant touch to your outfit with a gorgeous orange. A great way to prolong summer, or add some colour during winter. Bright orange is best teamed with neutral tones and looks great with contrasting navy. Don’t feel confident rocking a blood orange tee? Opt for a softer pastel tone – think marigold or peach.

5.    Sand
We may be getting in early, but sand is an ideal colour for Spring! Whether it’s a day at the shops or a day in the office, you can never go wrong with a neutral colour. Best worn from head to toe, go for a darker shade in pants and a lighter shade on top. Add interest with contrasting accessories.

6.    Mustard yellow
Yellow is the colour of summer and has positive, happy connotations. Be careful what you team it with, as it can disappear into white. For best results, pair yellow tones with dark colours to highlight it and bring it to life!
