Hello!

One of my clients has just flown to the UK, taking her 5-month old baby to meet her grandparents. Lots of preparation is involved when traveling with babies and small children. Do you have any tips from personal experience that made your travel time easier?

Often it is only simple things that make the world of difference.

Going on holidays can be so relaxing and fun for the whole family however the excitement can be taken away at the thought of actually getting there. All that has to be organized, booked, arranged, remembered, packed before hand means sometimes you arrive at your destination exhausted. Any tips you can pick up from others who have travelled might make life easier and reduce stress levels!

Some people say it takes a village to raise a child-this can relate to information and education too. You don’t have to do it all alone or have all the answers.

Happy Parenting. :)

  • I’ve flown from Tassie to WA and back again with a 2 yo and a 5 yo on my own. Wasn’t too bad. The 2 yo slept and the 5 yo loved the inflight movie.. it helped to have a break half way, as there are no direct flights between hobart and Perth

  • We took a 3 year old on a two hour flight on a budget airline (they used an old noisy plane.) They gave him pencils and a colouring in book. It kept him amused for awhile. We took a couple of little books and a soft toy for him. The only problem was he wanted the window ” blind” down and the rule was they have to be up when landing.

  • trying to take practical care of your children can be hard in small spaces but if you travel by plane, maybe try to book a flight in the afternoon or evening so hopefully the children will just sleep through a lot of the flight, if possible

  • I recently flew from NY to LA. A 5hr flight and this poor couple were flying with their young baby that looked about 7mths old. She refused to sleep and screamed the entire flight. The poor Mum was so stressed by the end of the flight. I was 3 rows back from them and the man next to me had been making loud comments….some people are so rude. Just ignore the rude people.

  • One tip for the car holiday is not to get into eye spy and other games too soon. Let them just look out the window, take in the view and get bored..Yes, let them get bored, that’s when the best of their creativity comes out!
